Hot sauce recommendations

I love things hot and spicy but I don't have anything in my pantry that's cutting it. I have Sriracha sauce but it's too wimpy. I need something stronger. I don't want things so hot that I have to go to the hospital though!

Does anyone have good hot sauces they can recommend?

Famous Dave's Wilbur's Revenge. It even comes in a flask!

that's a BBQ sauce. Don't want to use that like a hot sauce! Great on Ribs and Brisket though

My favorites are Dave's Insanity products. Their standard Insanity sauce is nice and spicy, but I buy their Ghost Pepper sauce. Check them out

Dave's is the Shit. It certainly packs a punch.

not hot is right... Janie is looking for heat. Cholula is my favorite hot sauce for flavor on "mexican" dishes, but it doesn't provide much heat

Note the flavor mention. Hot sauces frome different pepper sources make for a different tasting dish, and usually interchanging them will give an undesired result.. Examples:

For general use or American dishes I use Crystal or Tabasco Red (Caspicum).

For Mexican, Choula (Habanero?) or Tabasco Green (Jalapeno). I also use a lot of La Victoria Taco sauce (mild caspicum).

For Chinese, Sirracha or chili oil (used in small amounts-very hot.)

For barbecue sauces and Caribbean I use jerk seasoning (Scotch Bonnett peppers).

Most of the bars that I hang out that serve wings make their basic hot wing sauce utilizing Frank's Original to start with and go from there> It does the job quite well-I get the "l put that s--t on everything."

I like it hot, but not overwhelingly so-no high habenero or ghost pepper, please.)

I agree. To me Frank's has the perfect heat balance

We use Franks on everything. It helps that its available in Costco and two big bottles are under $7.00.

I like Tabasco on eggs though. Its quite hot IMO.

Franks and Tabasco are made from cayenne peppers.

Both taste completely different. Must be due to Tabasco is fermented/aged where Franks is not. I think?

Will do! Thanks LIX!! :)

I got the regular Insanity sauce and it burned my mouth and not in the good way that I like. I literally poured a huge glass of milk and had to submerge my entire mouth and tongue in there to kill the heat. I was miserable!

Clearly I need something in-between Insanity sauce and Sriracha.

This and Tabasco are too weak for me. Need more.

Try this one...

I like Insanity sauce for a drop or two in a bowl of chili... not for pouring on food. This one is hot, but I can still pour it on tacos without getting my ass kicked.

Thank you!

And that's what I should have mentioned in my first post. I want a hot sauce I can drizzle over something. Not just to add to a dish to make the entire thing hot. Besides, I'm the only one in the house who likes things really spicy so I always need something I can add to my own food.

Yeah, this is the one. It's nice and hot, but will not make food unbearable if you pour it on. The local Mexican joint has this, and I use almost half the bottle - pour a little in the salsa, some on my rice, some in my food... :)
