Oh come on!!! Signals is my favorite Rush album. This cannot be happening.

2112 has one great song, and a bunch of album cuts. I mean, sure, A Passage to Bangkok is fun for a gimmick song...

Signals is all killer, no filler. And yes, that includes Countdown and Chemistry.

Seriously folks, The Analog Kid and Subdivisions alone should keep this ahead of 2112 and A Farewell to Kings.

You people disappoint me.

10 minutes of very good doesn't beat 30-40 minutes of great.

Damn anti-synth coalition.

Oh well...AFTK you're up.

Yup.

Yeah...there's no way that Kings is better than Signals. So it goes...

signals is better than kings if we pretend it's an EP that's missing xanadu and cygnus

Cygnus has musical moments...the intro in paticular...but a song about using compass points to fly to a black hole in a rocket named after a horse...only to be torn apaaaaaaart? Erm...

2112 is a classic. March Madness...it belongs in the Final Four.

Quite frankly, once Signals goes, I'm not sure what I'm going to vote for. I may have to abstain...

I don't see the problem. The pilot is using compass points in the same way anyone would - rather than saying something is to the right, or to starboard, or whatever. Rocinante is a cool name - so what if it's Don Quixote's horse? It's an allusion. The cosmonaut is compelled to fly into the black hole - who knows why? His compulsion is to explore, maybe, or just like Dr. Hans Reihardt (on his ship the Cygnus) because of scientific curiosity. And hey, you'd scream like that too if your every nerve was being torn apart. That is some damned righteous screamsingin' there.

Cygnus has several problems. It is a bit boring in the beginning, it has a voice-over that makes the one in The Necromancer seem awesome, the rhymes are tortured, the idea of navigating "east" in a spaceship is ridiculous, and the story is a bit silly. I still like it, but it is merely a good song...and when you're competing with great albums (minus Signals), that doesn't cut it.

An astronaut who is singing to a non-technical audience and doesn't want to use technical navigation terms because that would be snotty. So he's talking about looking outside the cockpit and hey, there's Lyra over there on the port side, or if you want to get "technical," in sector G-7.87.44 or whateverthefuck. I'm no astronaut.

He sets a course by looking out the window? No wonder he got sucked in.

SIGNALS. MUST. DIE.

I'm in disbelief that 2112 currently has more dumpster votes than Signals does.

And I still think of Signals as a nine on a ten-scale. It's not that I dislike it at all. But...2112? Come on!

Changed my vote to Signals...coz I love 2112 (side A), but only truly love three songs off of Signals.

I know...it is my way of supporting the better album...

And I have been playing Forever Changes a lot lately, I forgot just how amazing an album it is! Tied with Pet Sounds and The Doors debut for best album of the sixties (not counting The Beatles stuff, way too much greatness it gets boring listing it).

Wow 2112 and Signals are tied at 20 while Hemispheres and AFTK are still stinking up the joint? I can't change my vote both 2112 and Signals deserve to move forward.
