Your poll's a bit screwy, it makes you pick the last option even if you have indeed listened to it. Consider adding an option in the third question that says "I have listened to it, though."

The Remixed version is a huge different!

I got a headache when I listened to the first version, I could not listen to the whole album at once, had to listen to two-three songs and then take a break.

But now when I got the Remixed version... a great album! One of their best albums ever! I love it!! :) Everything sound so clean and perfect!

Mixing and Mastering are 2 very different processes.

In mixing they take all the recorded tracks and pick and choose the best bits and pieces and place them (volume wise) in the right place sound wise.

In mastering they take those mixed down tracks and make sure the levels for all the songs are the same and index all the tracks so they sound like they belong together

THIS IS NOT A TECHNICAL EXPLANATION!!!

This is just so the lay-person can have a basic understanding of the difference between the two processes!

I had the exact same problem with the original release.

I loved the songs but I couldn't listen to it for long and certainly not at high volumes due to the aural fatigue the poor production caused.

The remix is a vast improvement - I hope that David Bottrill works on any future Rush endeavor (love his work with Tool, King Crimson & Peter Gabriel.)

I really like a few songs on VT, some I am kinda meh about. But the remix definitely kicked it up a few notches for me. Oddly, I used to dislike "How it Is", but I actually kinda like the remix version.

There is also a remaster and an HD remaster.

And lets not forget there are at least 2 Richard Chycki remixes that are separate from VT:R

Earthshine (for sure) and I believe OLV.

Yeah, the two on Retrospective 3.

I didn't like those remixes, in fact I liked them less than the original VT. It sounds like all they did was just increase the mid frequency and leave everything else the same.

I'm listening to the remix again right now. Vapor Trails was quickly exciting because the band was back, then after a few spins "huh, I get what they were trying to do...nice effort". The remix is an absolute pleasure, potentially a top five album.

The remix is a lot less noisy but it doesn't make the songs any better. The kick drum is way too far forward in the mix. Sounds like a constipated turtle fart. Fert...fert...fert...fert...fert...fert....

Still love the original.

Gave the remix a huge chance by always listening to both consecutively, but I'm still finding it way too revisionist for my liking.

Most of the passion got drained from it as well.

I did a test with this album by putting on both the original and the remixed CDs and compared One Little Victory, and found that the remixed version was much clearer than the original. Geddy's voice seemed much stronger. The whole album is much better.

At the time, I thought that there was nothing wrong with the original, even asked about it, and a lot of people said: "listen to it with the volume right up, the production's bad". I never understood it. I always said I couldn't hear what was wrong. Now I can.

The changes on OLV remixed radically transform the song for the better imo but some of the other album changes i can take or leave.

Other than an improvement in overall sound clarity the single biggest tweak on remixed is the sound of ged's bass which is just fantastic, particulary on ghost rider and the end of secret touch, which is just sex on strings.

Great, great album. every time i go out walking it's stuck on headphones. Hardly ever listen to any other rush, i think because of its earthy kind of feel, the closest rush ever got to pure rock.
