HYF is their worst album. High Water. Tai Shan. Thought Mission was horrible at first but it has grown ok with age... CP was their return to hard rock and it influenced their next few albums. Then again, isn't this the Rush Keyboard Forum, so no surprise CP gets blasted and HYF praised. Go figure.

CP was a return to a hard rock sound, but all the songs went away, all the melodies went away, and all the lyrics turned to crap. As such, it is the band's worst album. Though you are probably right that it influenced the bands second worst album, S&A.

I'm not a huge fan of HYF, but it has several excellent and enjoyable songs, and they sound even better live. CP has virtually no redeeming qualities...other than it is about to be snuffed.

Anyway, if you like real hard rock, you'll vote against CP in order to save CoS.

CP influenced T4E and VT, Snakes was 15 years later, you're hysterical. Cut, Sun, Stick, Alien...the best songs of that era by far along with Force and Driven. The melodies went to eleven on my stereo, and still there. Besides Force, there is nothing memorable on HYF. Time stood still when that album spun. This is like alternate reality fandom, but still interesting..Dr. Bishop??

Evidently, more Hold Your Fire haters came crawling out of the woodwork while I slept. And I only sleep about five hours a night.

Can't let your guard down at all around here, I tells ya...

I woke up to a beautiful day in the neighborhood. 19-12. All seems right again somehow. COS being in danger next round is still crazy talk...

I listened to Clockwork Angels this morning and I'm now really regretting voting for it to go yesterday. I really, really enjoyed it. The production values on it still suck. But I really enjoyed listening to it anyway.

CA deserves to be in it for the long run.

Nah...nothing after Power Windows should survive the prelims. There are plenty of good songs post-PWs...good collections of songs, even...but no truly solid albums by RUSH standards. They're just too long...

Prelims...interesting. What should we consider 'prelims' versus the real down and dirty? Where is the cut-off point?

We really really would need a definition of "long run". If it means it goes next then I concur... :)

You know what? I think I agree with this. As much as I like Grace Under Pressure, mostly enjoy Power Windows and have come to enjoy the first 8 of HYF it is still really a crap shoot after Signals. Nothing Signals back should be gone before the rest....

As much as i enjoy almost the entire 80's. I always thought Signals was the top of the hill.

Mick

So I'm not the only one?

Nope. i love the albums that follow signals. But every band has a peak......and Signals was Rush's, IMO.
