concert advice :)

For one of the shows on the last tour we were in the 10h row.

I'm 5'8" and must have been around the tallest Rush fans in the world.

I had to keep moving about to see past a shoulder here, in between two people there.

I did not find the evening to be enjoyable to be completely honest.

I spent most of the show on my toes.

Won't risk that again.

I'm happy in the first lower section from the stage...perfect vantage point.

Anything past row 3-5 is a risky proposition for the vertically challenged.

Hi!

I don't go to a lot of concerts and this is my first time on the floor for a Rush show - row 10. SO EXCITED.

Any advice on how to get the most out of the evening?

I'm 5'5" - how much heel do I need to be able to see?

I want to hear everything (of course) but people will wear ear plugs, right? Do you guys have advice on a brand or decibel rating?

Thanks!

At 5'5" you should be able to get on some guy's shoulders. As a female, security will probably let you cheat forward too!

I wouldn't count on that.

Yeah, that seems... unlikely. On the CA tour, I had great seats up the side and it was AWESOME but I couldn't stand up without blocking people and my neighbors were some loud fellows talking *over the songs* about lawn care. This time I wanted to get on the floor so I could stand and rock out a little. I assume most people up front will share my enthusiasm. (Right?) Do people really "cheat forward"? Would you say the atmosphere is generally friendly or aggressive (if you're a woman)?

For the second set, people move forward to stand in the aisles and against the stage...or have at every show I've attended.

Not at Rush shows they don't. You're reachin' dude. YOU do that. Rush shows are pretty controlled and regulated per band request.

I guess we've attended different shows.

Yeah, maybe Minnesota people are different than other people, you might be right. :)

No, don't ear plugs. Use the ones that still let the sound through, but just reduce decibel level.

i went to a store that sells musical instruments and bought ear plugs there. it was S & A 2007 leg so they're a few years old but still work great. i spent maybe $20 for them? i'm sure you can find them online for less than that.

i'll be main floor row 11, i don't think being able to move a little forward will be a problem.... MOST fans are pretty cool of allowing other fans a chance to see. Heels aren't an option for me so i'll have to rely on the kindness of strangers/fellow fans if seeing the stage will be a problem... usually if you're shorter than they are, they don't have a problem with it, cuz they can still see!!!

at the S & A show in Toronto i was behind the tallest MF in the whole arena. Row 22 i think? it kinda sucked, but i stood on two chairs pretty much the whole time. security would tell me to get down, and so i did for a minute, got back up again... :)

I'm 5'3 and I wear 4 inch New Rock platforms so I can see a bit better. It's fine like that - apart from the Montreal gig last tour. Then a 6' 6+ monster stood in front of me, so I went into the aisle. Bouncers we're going to move me, took one look at the guy in front and let me be

I'm 5'0" and had row 10 for one show on the CA tour. I was very fortunate that the 6'3" gentleman in front of me looked back and noticed that I was tiny. He shuffled over a bit so that I had a better view, and I had a great time thanks to his thoughtfulness! So I hope you'll take comfort in my experience-- I'm sure you'll be fine with 5" on me, especially if you plan to wear a bit of a heel or platform.

Oh and don't forget to pee before the concert.

Although if you do have to pee, Rush concerts have no line for the ladies' room! :7up:

Oh tell me about it. I'm almost as excited about that as I am about the show itself....

That was nice of him to do that. I would suggest for this tour (and for any concert, really) that people make a conscientious effort to look around them and try to remember to be courteous where possible. I am sometimes guilty of stopping somewhere to watch something and forgetting that I might be blocking someone, but I try to be more and more aware of that. :)

That's one nice thing about the intermission in the middle. Usually by the time whatever you bought to drink has gone through you it's time for the break.

I'm done with the floor unless I am in the first row or the last row.

I've accepted the fact that I am never goingtogetthatclose.

Earplugs, usually the clear soft silicone ones you can shape and shove into your ear.

Eat before you go to the show. You'll save some if a little cash.

Have a nice time :)
