Segue Myles
Hold Your Fire is my favorite album, so it's first. Presto is second and Power Windows is third. I love this top three!

JohnRogers
Doesn't anyone else here love Red Tide? It's a wonderful little energetic tune! I love it! (Apart from those blasted propaganda lyrics )So I had quality time with Red Tide recently. Is it a concern for the environment or a twisted Soviet Union metaphor? The song came out in ’89 I doubt Red Tide was about commies.

JohnRogers
I doubt Neil Peart is some mindless drone in the climate change debate. Thinking more about 1989 when acid rain made many nightly newscasts, the EPA Clean Act just starting to make a difference. I don't think Red Tide is militant environmentalism just something written by a guy who knows clean and water is important and takes effort.
circumstantial tree
Back in 1989, the big environmental issue was the depletion of the ozone layer caused by CFC's. These could usually be found the in styrofoam products of the day and many in aerosols like hairspray (which is probably why many people still no longer use hairspray for styling purposes, but gels and mousses which didn't have CFCs that I know of). Things have been modified since then. George Bush Sr., during his presidency, declared CFCs be banned by a certain year (I forget which year though). micgtr71
I'm going to have to come back to vote after thinking for a while. It is either PoW or HYF which are equally excellent. HYF may edge it out just for Geddy's bass playing...which is fantastic on PoW as well... Presto does not come close to these two records. For me, Presto also contains the worst song Rush ever wrote...Superconductor.

GeddyLeeRoth
7. Power Windows14.Presto16. Hold Your Fire I know PoW and HYF are 'sister albums', but as Geddy put it, they 'went too far' on HYF. It simply aint as good, and Tai Shan, High Water and Second Nature almost ruin the album. I shake my head when I see people put this album up on a pedestal.
TheAccountant
Presto is very, very good. Unfortunately it is up against 2 of Rush's very nest albums. In fact, to my ears, only 2112 is better. Yes, that means I prefer them to Perm Waves and even MP. Tonight I voted for HYF. That could easily change however depending on the mood I am in. Both are amazing artworks. Just love them both. jefeltner11
I've always thought the good outweighs the bad by far on HYF, which makes it my pick. Power Windows is just all around quality, but only one stand-out track. Presto? No strong opinions for or against...

Rutlefan
Yikes, three albums which produced one song I really like (The Pass), one song I like ok (High Water), and one song I can live with if forced (Mystic Rhythms). Since Presto has the one song I really like I'll vote for that but I don't imagine for a second that it's "better" than either of the other two; it's clearly not, objectively speaking.
