Please stop whining

To add to the whining, I just noticed the seating map has changed in Columbus AFTER I bought VIP silver tickets. It slid section 104 down to where 105 used to be. 103 is now where I used to be. VIP support at Ticketmaster basically confirmed that this happens sometimes, not very often though, and there is a small disclaimer that seating alignment can change without notice. So they really couldn't help me. They were very sorry though.

So anybody interested in VIP silver tickets Sect 104 row E, seats 1-4, may PM me. I might be willing to part with them out of whiney frustration.

Same thing happened to me in Columbus last tour. Had seats right next to the stage just off the floor. Then they slid the stage back one whole section. This tour, I got on right at 10am, and picked up Section 104 row D. They moved the stage again! :rage: Whine! Whine! Gripe! Bitch!

This shouldn't affect VIP tickets, or would it? They're supposed to be within a certain amount of rows from the stage, regardless of where they move it.

How long have you been here or a rush fan.........it's a forum. grow a thicker skin or leave. sorry but i can't get behind threads like this.

Mick

It's got nothing to do with having a thick skin, Mick; it's about a vocal minority acting as if not getting tickets is personal. I'm not particularly bothered by it any more than any other thread, but I can't sympathize with self-indulgent petulance.

And just as there are people on this thread who are calling me out on any number of issues, so too will I call out other members on things I notice. I mean, it's a forum about a rock band, not a religious discussion.

I can't speak for everyone, but there really is an issue with some of the shenanigans that venues are pulling this time around. Tickets for me are the same price as they have been in the last 3 tours but my venue is playing games like I've never seen before. They're quite clearly controlling what tickets are being funnelled into the system every few hours. 6 hours to sell out all out every seat except nosebleeds only to have tons of 100 level seats appear in the evening out of thin air? I expect there will be tons of floor seats again next week or when the tour actually gets promoted in the city.

I feel it's something legitimately complaining about. Every concert I've been to likely controlled the flow of tickets to a degree but never anything so blatant.

This kind of tinkering with seats almost seems illegal except the venue carefully inserts that "conditional, we-can-move-seats-as-needed" clause into their sales contract. It's definitely not in good faith, just as the relentless scalping and massive resellling goes against the grain of artistry as well.

I agree that the seat release and the schedule is suspect, but it's a seller's market. We can complain about it all we want; the venue's job is to sell tickets to cover and exceed the cost of the show, overhead, and fees. However they go about legally doing that is up to them.

Having said that, I'm not saying I don;t give a shit about those who are unlucky enough not to have scored any seats except distant 300-level ones. It's just, at this stage, it's too early in the game to go into histrionics.

I wonder what would happen if the band suddenly said "we've changed our minds and decided not to tour?" Would the tickets be refunded?

I feel for them though. If they just got something decent right off the bat then they could be on with their lives. If I didn't get 100 level tickets I'd probably be checking 3 times per day hoping I'd get some newly released tickets. It would drive me absolutely nuts trying to get my hands on a decent ticket to see my heroes on what might be their last tour.

They'd have to be. The venue would be refunded the fee they paid Rush. Then again, who knows what contractual stipulations are in those sort of contracts. Still, if Rush had to bail for whatever reason, fans would get a full refund back. Especially if there were no hope of reschedule.

Agreed! And idk, but part of the thrill IS checking for tickets all the time; even going to the venue box office during the day to see if something comes up. I'm not saying it's a really fun time, but it's a necessary step in this pseudo-sordid game.

Not to be acerbic, but whine, whine, whine; "in the past it was this"; "it used to be so easy to do this"; "what happened to the days of.."; "I'm frustrated with how I'm not able to get seats that befit my love of the band..."

I'm sorry - did a bunch of my self-entitled high school seniors just take over this forum? I mean, I understand the frustration, but we're adults here. This is a capitalist, supply/demand system. Yes - there are slimy scalpers with professionally-written bot algorithms who scoop up all the good seats and then make obscene profits on them. This has been going on for how long now? Why is this news?

I agree - its a deplorable, albeit legal practice that somewhat deadens the whole experience. And yes, sometimes I too would like to be able to stand in line at the local venue or TM outlet overnight and proffer up $30 for a 2nd row seat. I'd also like to open up a brand new "Missile Command" cartridge while listening to the Police's new album, Synchronicity, but that's not going to happen again, either.

You want tickets to a major draw, arena rock band? Then this is part of the game. You want good seats consistently? Start seeing smaller acts in smaller venues. Try general admission shows. Try the symphony or a good jazz club. But please stop whining about your frustration at being outwitted in the ticket game.

Whinning about whiners! You must have got front row at face value?

It sure comes across pretty whiny. If, as adults, we can't just be patient and out-wait the system, then we should be charged an exorbitant price. A demand for immediate gratification.has always been expensive.

No doubt about that! The "First ten Rows" thing is crap, I think. Huge difference between row ten and row one. Like, literally nine rows of difference.

No doubt about that! The "First ten Rows" thing is crap, I think. Huge difference between row ten and row one. Like, literally nine rows of difference.

Going with the nose bleeds at this point $78.00 bucks,

Maybe some thing better as time goes on.

I've found that the best way to naviage through the complexities of life is to know how to make lemonade when lemmons are thrown one's way. Here, allow me to translate. I, like the rest of you folks enjoy seeing my favorite bands as well as my favorite sports teams. To be able to afford the high costs, I started purchasing extra seats to events and re-selling for profit. With Stubhub and TicketsNow, its so easy and yes, 100% legal. All you need to do is be prepared and be quicker than the next guy when tickets go on sale. With one computer, I easily scored multiple floor tickets for this Rush tour at two different venues. Not liking the system?? Quit whining and make it work for you!!

Its not about whining,

More about frustration.

Walks like a duck...

Good strategy...get in at the ground level price then troll for bigger fish as the date gets closer.

:dweez: That's the entrepreneurial spirit! Work the system or be a slave to it. It's your choice!

I had no problem getting my lawn ticket. :)

How much was it? I've seen Rush on the lawns about 7 times in the last 8 years, and I never paid more than $50, and usually spend closer to $35.

My whiney whine: someone posted 2 front row center section tickets for Newark they couldn't keep on this forum (the "I must have front row" thread, non-ironically) and I jumped on them, paid the girl half the money, she sent one ticket pdf, and when I'm ready to send the rest of the money, she suddenly has been unable to cancel her stubhub listing for 3 weeks, and someone else bought both tickets.

Whiney whine#2: another forum member here tried to convince the seller that I was somehow scamming her so she would be stuck with her tickets (after I already had half the money on its way) in an attempt to persuade seller to sell to them instead (no names, but you can go read the thread and figure out who the seller is at least if not the spoiler).

The lemons to lemonade: my buddy who was taking the other ticket already had bought 2 4th row tix closer to the center, and so...plan b is now in effect. And the seller was at least honest enough to refund the PayPal transaction already made.

If someone here got a pair of tix for Newark sec B, front row, seats 3&4, you got my tix you $&@#! And I'd love to know what you paid for them—please pm me if you're here. I'm just trying to give this person who jerked around me, my friend and my other friend from this forum who wanted to take one of the 4th row seats the benefit of the doubt that it was unintentional, but if I find out she made a big profit, I'll be more irked. FWIW, the person's only two posts here ever were to ask if anyone was interested in the tix—her boyfriend is the rush freak, not her.
