Like A Prayer is a GREAT ALBUM

It's the best Madonna album.

See? We agree on a lot of things! ;) ;)

It is! I wish she carried on this quality through the nineties...although i love Ray Of Light.

I was going to mention Ray of Light before I saw that you did. You have good taste (sometimes).

Whatever Presto is, Rush should do Red Tide next tour. Would make a great opening song. :)

As we see the tide of fans with red stars ebb back to the concessions.

And if they follow that song up with The Speed of Love, I'll have more time to be alone with them.

I doubt that. It's a high energy song and a heavier version would likely go over well.

But I forgot. You know how to read each audience members mind so you must be right.

Jesus I'm 46 and I love "Like A Prayer." I wore out my cassette of "True Blue" when I was in high school.

Yeah I did too. Great albums. :)

I think there is a difference between it being a 90s album or being a Rush 90s album. I can see an argument for being a Rush 90s album as it shows a shift into a direction that was played out in the 90s. But as far as the music goes, it, and RTB, are firmly rooted in 80s pop/rock sensibilities. By 1991, RTB (and Presto) sounded very, very different than the rock that was on the radio...it seemed that it had been a relic of a time gone by. This is largely because of production issues, and those were improved greatly on CP.

Released in 1989=80's album. It was a different sound than HYF but it quietly ushered them into the next decade. The only thing that was 90s about Presto was Neil's sweatshirt in the video for The Pass. Other than that Roll the Bones, literally and stylistically was most definitely their first 90s album.

I really dont understand how the 90s has so many votes

Probably because it was a semi dramatic shift from HYF along with how similar it is to RTB

I LOVED it when they brought back Presto on the Time Machine tour. There are some really great SONGS on here.

Show Dont Tell is a monstrous track, and im calling it right now, we will hear this one on the next tour. I also like The Pass, Scars, Anagram for Mongo, Chain Lightning.

Its altogther a better album than Roll The Bones which might be my least favourite of all. Even if Dreamline and Wheres My Thing rank pretty high up there on all time rush FAVOURITES, the rest of the album I just cannot get into at all. Save for maybe The Big Wheel.

Technically - the start of a new decade is the 1's. I dont know where I heard that, but I dont really subscribe to that theory. Like for instance this decade "supposedly" started in 2011. I dont get that.

By that logic, Permanent Waves was a 70's album. Which it actually technically could be, it was written, recorded in 1979, and relase January 1. thats basiaclly a 70s album. Presto though? nah. 80s.

Ive heard that theory as well. That is why there was much debate and confusion when the millennium was celebrated in 2000.

This bodes well for me: i could be an eighties child after all!

Presto sounded different than the rock that was on the radio because you were listening to the rock stations instead of the lite rock stations. It fit right in on the latter.

I agree with those who have commented that Presto is some what of an odd sounding album. If nothing else, the mixing is different (IMO) from any other Rush album. Has a thinness to it that no other album has and which, at first, I did not care for - a little to thin for me, at first. Took me many years to get to like it. But once I did - wow. I think its a wonderful album. Lyrics are great, songs, music - both are great. And yes, the mixing is perfect. It lets all the songs breathe. Wonderful.

As for the 80's vs. 90's argument, I vote for it being an 80's album. To me i sounds like a (I know this may not make sense but what the heck, it will make sense to me) radically logical progression from HYF. Radically logical?? Yes. Yes, thats what it is to me.

I would add that I would also say that RTB sounds like an 80's album to me. If anything, its more of a throw back to the early 80's in a way. Almost a logical jump from MP. MP to Signals (yes both are 80's albums - just very different 80's albums) was almost an irrational jump.

To me, Rush's first true 90's sounding album was Counterparts.

Yes, but I don't see what that has to do with anything. Did you not understand what I was saying?

What is a Rush crow? Most songs seem to get enthusiastic responses. Red Tide would not be one of those, I suspect.

Which argues that it is a new direction for Rush, but not a 90's album. It shares almost nothing with most 90s music other than RTB.

The argument is that there was no year 0, so that means the first decade was year 1-10, the second 11-20 and so on.

Fair enough, it sounds like 90s Rush album, but otherwise I suppose it's pretty 80s
