i can't say anything bad against ol Presto. my pick for most underrated rush album. I love neil's drum sound here. While most bash it.

Presto rules.

Mick

The album has some of Neil's most inventive and interesting drumming. Each song is percussively distinct from the rest and in many cases help shape and drive the tune more than any other instrument.

Presto is so great it amazes me how it is treated as a weak album.

There are a couple to many cheesy songs. i like the production even though most don't. Clear and concise instrumentation. Not all distorted and full of overlaying as with recent sh*t.....

The biggest weakness is the production. If they would remaster it, I think it would be more popular. It has no low-end and sounds thin in comparison to any of their other albums.

It needs a remix

But a remix may make it lose its "essence"

I'd be interested in hearing a remix, but I love Presto just the way it is!

Only song I REALLY want to improve is Superconductor, but even then only the backing vox on the chorus. Otherwise I really like it!

The guitar tone bugs me on that one. And the song is a little too "upbeat" for it's own good.

If they could revisit that song and start over, it could be great!

Cheesy can be ok...look at The Trees...

Even the cheesiest songs on Presto are done well (except for Superconductor)

I don't buy into this weak production B.S. line and never have. Is it the strongest ever? no. but it is in no way that weak. You want weak? i point you once again to the champ of wussy-ness, RTB.

I completely agree. I think it's one of the bands most inventive and diverse albums. I really love this album.

It sounds very 80s to me which is one reason that I don't care for it. A lot of songs in basic 4/4. There are also the staccato shimmery rhythm guitar parts like Chain Lightening, i.e. The Police, and Red Tide i.e.The Go-Go's. Presto sounds much more dated than their other albums. Counterparts has its 80's moments i.e. (The Enemy Within) but it's further back in the decade. Presto and The Pass sound more timeless.

The Enemy Within is on Counterparts?

Yes. It's the best song on the album.
