What decade does Permanent Waves really belong in?

The Empire Strikes Back was filmed in 1979 and was released on May 21, 1980.

The Shining was filmed in 1977 and 1978 and was released on May 23, 1980.

Does the fact that most of their production happened in the 70's make them 70's movies?

Permanent Waves was recorded in 1979 and released on January 1, 1980.

No one heard the entire album until 1980.

You cannot defeat this argument.

Permanent Waves is a 1980's album.

Hate to nitpick but a poll would really work for this one.... :rose: :)

Do you know what you can do with that rose?

Was just trying to be nice. That one hurt alot. Enjoy the rest of your day....

This is exactly why I said that their is no objectivity regarding long-time Rush fans.

It doesn't matter if Permanent Waves "feels" like a 1970's album.

It is a fact that it was officially released on January 1, 1980.

You can't debate this fact.

It is one of, if not the greatest, record released in 1980. Therefore it is a 1980's album.

The Permanent Waves warmup tour was from 8/17/79 to 9/22/79 and featured only these songs from the album:

The Spirit Of Radio (Early version which did not include the final guitar solo)

Freewill (Early version which did not include the final guitar solo.)

Only two songs out of six and they weren't even the final versions.

There is absolutely zero justification for PW to be considered a 70's album.

The facts are the facts.

It was purposefully released on Midnight January 1, 1980 so that it would be the first album released in the 80's.

70's.

Yes, which means that it's "purposefully" a 1980's album. And release dates are usually intentional.

Are you arguing against yourself in your own post?
