Hahaha, I see the forum picked up another expert who writes discourses Move over everyone.

Anyway, Kenny, why rant against me and someone else voting for Signals? It is a good album and some of their best songs ever on it. Which is more than I can say for some of their other albums.

P.S. If you want to know the truth, asking me to vote for Rush's best album is like asking a mother to vote for her favorite child.

I know but you, Lorraine? Queen Xanadu? You said you changed your vote from AFTK to Signals because it wasn't getting any love.

You know AFTK is better. Right?

This will cheer you up. I deleted my vote and will not vote in this because I can't.

That makes me sad. Picking the best is not picking you favorite.

It is more like picking your tallest child, or fastest, or even smartest. If you step back, you can make an honest assessment.

Signals cause "I feel sorry for it"?

This poll is not about sharing the love. It is for the best album. Rush's top album. While I love Signals, it is not their top album no matter how bad we feel for it.

And... Snakes & Arrows? Come on. This has turned into a joke.

Presto and Counterparts are not worth a comment.

Well that is only YOUR opinion.

I'm not saying that people can't hold them in high regard or even be their favorite. The reason people are voting for these is they feel like they should "get some love" or they are under rated.

The poll is for their absolute best. As much as anyone may love Signals, and I do, their best?

I can even accept that some people genuinely feel that CA is their best and have not questioned it once. I understand why people would think that even though I disagree. This isn't personal.

I just want an honest poll. What is their best!

The thing about this band is their longevity and their evolution over time creates pockets of dissent within their fan base. Some folks love the band's early, Zeppelin-esque style and think anything beyond that is inferior. Some folks think the band should have stopped at 2112. Some folks love the Prog Rock era and nothing can touch that. Some folks love the synth era (yes, folks, there are people out there who grew up in the 1980s and that was their sound!). Some love the later and modern stuff, etc, etc, etc.

As for me, I find things to appreciate in all of the eras. Certainly I have my favorites, but the bottom line is I enjoy pretty much everything the band has produced. No, I don't think everything is perfect and I think some works are stronger than others... but I do find everything enjoyable. I also tend to put each album in the context of the previously mentioned evolution. In my mind, each album is not an independent island. In my mind, their entire discography is an archipelago - where there is social and geographic connectivity among a series of islands.

That said, I am definitely a minority opinion, but also probably because I used the term "archipelago". :)

So what's your vote? :)

It was, is, and always will be, Permanent Waves.

Expert? No. Discourses? Yes. What can I say... I like to write.... but I will try to keep it short from time-to-time. No promises, though!

Presto needs some hate...

:goodone:

It's still better than any of your albums.

:o Are you saying that Spaghetti Lee is really David Lee Roth?

No, I am saying he is Dream Theater.

(I'm being facetious because I don't think I've ever listened to an entire Dream Theater album - except for Falling Into Infinity)

You know what? Even though I like Hemispheres better, I'm going for Moving Pictures. A flawless album, and nearly universally regarded as one of their best; also, their most accessible/least polarizing.

^ I like Hemispheres better too, but I also voted for MP, because ... it is their *best* album. It's a fact. It's a Canadian fact, brought to you by the Canadian Bureau of Facts.

For me it is a virtual tie between Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. I went with Hemispheres in the poll, the tiebreaker being that La Villa Strangiato is my overall favorite song ever.

Well it's technically not a song because there are no vocals...

I'm sorry that I destroyed your illusion. But you're better off being in a world of cold, hard reality than living in a deception of delusion and fantasy.

^ Congratulations, I almost never have to look up the meaning of a word, but I had to look up "debridement." Does explain how Presto could get a vote. Now off to eat breakfast, if I can still manage. Edited by Rutlefan

For the record, someone did not vote for Hemispheres and I am totally behind that vote because they voted for what they think is the best instead of their favorite. Thanks for truly understanding the poll Rutlefan.
