Did they play The Fountain Of Lamneth or not?

I would love for them to play The Fountain of Lamneth.

If only. I'm hoping for part of it in a medley (fingers crossed for "No One at the Bridge"). It's definitely a song that deserves to be revisited, it shows how astonishingly creative they were even when they were super young

I was personally hoping for at least Panacea. That is one of the most beautiful little songs I have ever heard in my life. I wonder who it was written for and about? Do you happen to know if Neil wrote those lyrics? Or was it Geddy?

I think they wrote some of their best in the seventies. They were musically brilliant. That entire album fit in so very perfectly with the times back then. But, as with AFTK, I never heard it on the radio.

I was holding out hope for Panacea for awhile. Right up until Alex had to say it was the worst Rush song along with Tai Shan. What an asshole! Panacea isn't even a song! And Panacea is absolutely gorgeous, I can only assume Neil wrote the lyrics

It is gorgeous, and I think it is one of the most beautiful things ever written by any band ever. I love the lyrics. I can't imagine why Alex thinks it is so awful, along with Tai Shan which I think is another pretty song.

I asked who wrote it because I thought they all wrote lyrics until Alex and Geddy decided Neil would be better suited to that task since they "didn't talk so good!"

Sir Gawain would have been THE greatest Rush song of all time, without a doubt! Who gives a shit if the rest of the album was more "modern themed" I think it would have fit in great! Jacob's Ladder is a f***ing biblical reference for Christ's sake!

Had a Rush cover band ever played Fountain live? :)

I played it, minus Didacts and Narpets, (along with SteelCaressed son) during the TRF tailgate in the Jiffy Lube Live (DC) parking lot for the Snakes And Arrows, Time Machine, and Clockwork Angels tours. I think there may be videos of it in the meetup archives of the tour section.

Thanks. I don't remember playing it at the R40 tailgate (as young Greg wasn't there), but I do love Lamneth and am certainly excited to play what I know.

Maybe someday we can have another TRF tailgate at Jiffy Lube. It could be a band we don't give a shit about and extend the tailgate through the show.

I'm told by the original sound man, that FoL was played on occasion during the CoS tour when they headlined. Maybe not completely but most likely its true. I do believe the Tour Book history recently released also makes note of this song being played occasionally.

if the 1/10/76 show setlist is even remotely close to being a true set, god did someone miss out not recording that. That would be, the ultimate holy grail, hands down. I can't believe no taper recorded that show when earlier gigs were recorded in Toronto. Probably in a drawer somewhere...I have hope someday that another COS tour gig will be unearthed.....they played enough dates that only one show being taped by a Kiss Taper seems IMPOSSIBLE......
