Gluten Free - Anyone have good/bad results???

I didn't go gluten free, but l decided to pretty much cut out sugar and carbs from my diet, "the white stuff" as I've seen it called. I have cut out 98% of priocessed sugar and 85% of carbs, pretty much only whole wheat when I do eat it. I started the first week of April.

I have lost two "belt loop" sizes and had a great surprise at the Dr yesterday. My blood pressure has dropped significantly. I have been 130-135/80-85 for years and that is with medication. It was at 190/115 at one point without medication.

Yesterday it was 112/60 and I was shocked and thought there must have been a mistake. At the end of my appt (at least 20 min later) I asked to have it taken again and explained why. It was 120/70. I mentioned cutting out sugar and carbs and the nurse said that can certainly have an effect on BP.

I am ecstatic about this, I just wanted to lose a few inches and be healthier. That was a great bonus.

Gluten is gross.

Especially if you see colonscopic pictures of what it does to the lining of your intestines and colon. :puke:

Detoxing myself of it has helped clear up my villi quite a bit and my absorption rate of proteins, iron and B12 have risen. It's def not for me.

Oh my, who goes in just to have a camera put up their butt?

People suspected of colon cancer which is one of the most preventable cancers and a good chance of survival if caught early.

That's amazing Digi!!! Honestly, I've seen SIGNIFICANT results for myself for changing the way I eat. Not just in how I look, but how I feel, my moods, and my health.

That's great to hear! :D

No I know that lol. I thought people were going in for other reasons, like to see how much gluten was clogging up their intestinal tract.

Thanks, it does feel good. We have almost completely cut out processed foods as well, as much as we can with three teenagers always on the go. I ride a stationary bike weekday mornings for about 30 minutes as well.

I just popped in to tell you all that gluten-free pastry crust tastes like cardboard ass!

Someone brought in a couple of apple pies for the office today. I didn't know they were gluten-free when I got a small slice to go with my coffee, so let it be known that I had NO preconceived notions!

Hard, not flaky at all, and it had sort of an "off" flavor I can't quite find a suitable term for. It looked lovely, pretty lattice crust and all, but the taste was just wrong. The apples were good, though.

I should go totally gluten free. But I can't do it everyday, in every product.

Sometimes it's difficult to find these products.

Nowadays there are books who teach how to cook gluten free, lac free and so on.

A good option is to use rice products. It works for me.

Living in a (virtually) vegan gluten free household. My daughter was the first one who actually made the conscious decision to change her lifestyle to that of a gluten free vegan. I've been feeling guided to go that route as well for some time now, there is energy in the things we digest... and mostly followed along... old habits die hard especially eating/drinking habits!

I was recently diagnosed with RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and the Dr recommended following a paleo diet plan. In my research though it would mean cutting out nuts, seed, beans, lentils - all of which i LOVE and some even help with some RA symptoms...

not 100 % gluten free vegan, but i'm getting there... a work in progress... :) it's a more laborious lifestyle choice - especially with the gluten - which when i'm not flaring i'm OK with.

We've made tons of vegan gluten free pizza's, pot pie, fruit pies, breads, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls was our latest triumph.
