Mmmmm Mmmmm.... Juice boxes

Recommended Posts

I actually liked the Purple one's flavor the best... but there's always been an mysterious allure to me about Blue food.

Yeah, totally, I was always most curious about the blue variety of whatever junk I was eating or drinking as a kid. And even after tasting the blue beverage/"delicacy," it was never quite clear what "flavor" it was supposed to be. Sure, it was eventually discovered to be "raspberry" in most cases, but back then It was just... blue. And it was left at that.

The fact remains that there is a childhood obesity epidemic. Lack of exercise and proper nutrition is the cause. That is not a comment on anyone in particular but North American society in general. Introduce your kids to wholesome foods and exercise. It is one of the most important things you can do as a parent.

The childhood obesity epidemic isn't caused by juice boxes. It's caused by X boxes. I'm 45. Back in the 70s, we drank a shit load of Koolaid and pop, and their wasn't an ounce of fat on us. That is beacuse when we weren't in school we were outside playing baseball, riding our bikes, and running around like crazy gibbons.

There is nothing wrong with letting kids be kids and enjoying some of the pleasures of being a kid. Just make sure you get them off of their asses enough to burn off that Capri Sun or a Motts juice box. There's my 2 cents on the subject.

I agree to an extent but I also remember the days when real sugar was added to juice and not HFCS.

Maybe now... not when I was a kid. Only the ones invented by a dentist to rip out your fillings and force you to come back to his office :)

Somehow I never had a cavity until I was 25 and I lived off of most of the candies posted on this page haha.

I grew up on this crap:

All my mom ever gave me to drink was Hi-C, Kool-Aid, and little sugary-drink containers in my school lunch. So. Much. Sugar. It's a wonder I didn't end up with diabetes.

Nowadays most of what I drink is water, with an occasional beer or glass of wine.

They remind me of Opal Fruits, only I don't think they're called that anymore. Soft but chewy.

Was there ever any better way to instantly look ten times cooler than with these?

I was just going to post those... I loved that weird minty flavor they had.

I also loved putting these guys in the freezer and trying to chip a tooth:

I grew up with two different kinds—the white sugar ones with a colored red tip, and the paper-wrapped chocolate ones. And the funny thing is they never made me want to smoke.

Just a fillling? I had one of these things rip out a whole tooth.

I've been traumatized about Now and Laters since. I mean, I'm sure I would've lost that tooth soon anyways... but as a kid chewing down into a piece of candy, then opening your jaw to a gory ripping sound and the taste of blood: NOT a fun experience.
