My Top Ten 70`s Rush songs

10 . Anthem .

Why ?

Just turn it up .

9. Here Again .

Brilliant and underated .

8. Something For Nothing .

A perfect song in every way .

7. The Necromancer

I love this song more and more than ever

6;Cygnus X I Book II - Hemispheres

No need to say anything , do I ?

5. Madrigal .

When the dragons grow to mighty ...

Hard to pick a song off my ultimate Fav Rush album and I could have gone with all the tracks .

But this is again a perfect song .

4. Xanadu .

Well maybe 2 songs

3. In The End .

Always gives me the same feel as Something For Nothing .

2. La Villa Strangiato

Perfect again .

Rush at their peak

1. 2112 ,

Well it`s 2112 , and thank god it did enough to keep Rush recording albums after the brilliant underated Caress Of Steel was almost the death of the band .

Just think going into a Tractor part shop and seeing Mr Peart behind the desk with his head in a book .

Hard to pick 10 as for me rush`s finest decade .

It's hard for me to believe that the most skippable track in their 70's catalog would make anyone's top ten list.

Clock's in at a mere 2:35. No Alex. No Neil.

Well I love it Goose .

Yeh I could have gone Closer To Heart , etc etc , etc, but I think this song is always left out when it comes to lists .

But I do really think a short and sweet and I love it , very atmospheric

Are you saying it`s not a worthy Rush because their is only Geddy on it ?

Same goes with Cinerella Man .

Love that too :D

Cinderella Man is a fun live track.

The fact that Madrigal doesn't appear on any lists is a clue to its quality, perhaps. ;) I'd think of Panacaea, Tears, even Rivendell as making a list of good RUSH songs before giving Madrigal any thought.

By Tor has good taste in my view. Props for In The End and Here Again being on your list. Lessons and Cinderella Man would be on mine. Lessons has hit me as a special song and one of my all time favorites since I first heard it in 76'. Underrated and under appreciated for sure .... :)

Yeh , Goose Panacaea . :notworthy:

Again one of the finest Rush songs that gets left behind .

So then I will take away Madrigal and put The Fountain Of Lambeth .

And that is one hell of a Top Ten .

Cheers for the Nod Narps ! :D

Off the top of my head:

Working Man

Beneath, Between & Behind

In the End

Bastille Day

Something for Nothing

A Farewell to Kings

Xanadu

Circumstances

The Trees

La Villa Strangiato

Isn't it a bit cliche to be asked to list the top 10 70's RUSH and then to actually list them?

:D :rush: :haz:

By-Tor and the Snow Dog

Bastille Day

The Fountain of Lamneth

A Farewell to Kings

Xanadu

Cygnus X-1

Hemispheres

Good thing we're not counting Permanent Waves, otherwise this would be very difficult to narrow down.

He probably means they're taking a back seat, kind of like Alex did during the synth era (though I disagree with that. I understand it limited his creativity and expression, but at the same time the limitations and pressure pushed him to really shine in a new way for certain songs. E.g: Afterimage).

In this case, the back seat of a very, very long train.
