I thought of something else, and bear with me 'cause this might get a little Hippie ;)

Do you drink tea? Mint tea is known to calm your body down and act as an inflammatory. I sometimes make me a cup of that and leave the tea in the water all the time. I find that it helps, but maybe you will need some days to get used to it. And also, anything that contains cocoa can make it difficult to sleep. I get some weird ass dreams if I have cocoa or chocolate in the evening. Best to eat that during the day.

Maybe it will help some :)

You are welcome to get a lot hippie with me. I know one thing, that I fare much better with Eastern medicines, herbs, and healthy diet. I have been drinking tea once in awhile, though not mint. I enjoy a caffeine free green tea once in awhile as well as some liver detox teas, bedtime teas, and the like. I've been meaning to increase my herbal drink intake, still working on it.

Hey guys, just wanted to update since I've been quiet for a few days. Last Tuesday I woke up in a world of pain burning/cramping and so I called in sick to work, I thought I might have to go to the ER but I got the pain down with some Motrin and then went to my first day of class at school later that night, kind of ignoring the pain. I did okay until 4:30 Friday morning when I woke up and had to cry and scream into my pillow (yay!) My husband woke up and wanted to take me to the ER right away, I told him to let me wait it out, take some Motrin, and get into the tub to see if it helped the pain. I thought that maybe it was just another cyst and would be over soon. Well the Motrin took the edge off but not nearly enough to take the majority of the pain away so he took me to the ER. I have a fibroid tumor and had a cyst on my left ovary. It's been really painful. The doctor wanted to keep me in the hospital for observation but he wasn't allowed to admit me because they couldn't find a reason to perform surgery on me. So he sent me home and wanted me to have five days off of work but I asked him to just give me two days off of work because I don't have any paid time off. At this point I am worried that this week I may lose my employment due to how much I've been out sick and taking care of family members the past year (that part which is currently over, they ahve since passed).

Anyway, I'm waiting to see a specialist to decide what to do about my girl bits. The doctor in the ER was really sweet and really felt for me but he was also a pediatrician just doing his ER rounds so he didn't have much in the way of advice for me and sent me home with some pain, anti-nausea, and anti-anxiety meds.

So much fun being a girl!

I have been reading up on the fibroid though, a lot of websites are recommending a diet low in meat, dairy, "white" foods, etc... So I'm going to slowly attempt to ease my way back into veganism and see what happens. However I'll have to admit taking an ice pack, a few pain pills, and performing my own hysterectomy is looking like the better option every day.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about all of this. My SIL had fibroids and I knew they were painful from what she said. Hopefully your employer will understand. I wish things were better for you. :(

I had a hysterectomy about five years ago and boy am I ever glad that I did. I suffered for years with endometriosis, adhesions and fibroid tumors. I feel better in the last 5 years than I did in the previous 20.

So sorry to hear. Are you to young or not in a position to have the girl bits removed? My wife had hers removed years and years ago post children obviously. Haven't heard a peep out of her since regarding periods and such girly things.... I am an old dude but I am going to hug you anyway.... :hug2:

Hey GF:

seriously start looking into a copper IUD. A lot of gynos are reluctant to mention them to women who never had children but it is possible to get the procedure and aside from it being the most pain I've ever had in my life to the point of almost passing out it's good for 8-10 years, non hormonal and you don't have to worry about the pill messing with your hormones or insides anymore. I haven't had nearly the amount of problems that I had while on the pill and it makes you feel really empowered over your life and the decision to not have children.

Fibroids are treated with diet really effectively. Try going vegan as it is a diet that helps to calm inflammation. No dairy and no meat should def help. If you remove gluten and refined sugar you will be helping your body in ways you can't even imagine.

Anyway drop me a line if you wanna hear more info about the IUD

 love ya Doll

Huh, I thrived on the pill. I ultimately opted for a tubal, though, since I knew I wanted something permanent. But I had better skin, more regular cycles, and all in all was quite pleased with with how I responded to hormonal BC. I don't know if they still make the one I used for about 10 years or so - Ortho 7/7/7.

Gangster, I hope you get it resolved; I've heard fibroids are a real nightmare. That and endometriosis; I've got a few friends with endo horror stories where the uterine tissues actually invaded surrounding muscle.

Damn straight men have it easy. Well, except for the prostate thing, of course.

I dunno, a friend of my dad's had prostate cancer and he had the chemo "seeds" implanted to treat it. He said it felt like someone shoved an entire fire ant colony up his ass. From what I've heard, just about every man ends up with prostate issues if they live long enough.

That is true. If you live long enough. It's not the constant barrage women face from puberty on.... :)

I agree, we men have it pretty easy – accept for one thing. Last month I had to go for the “man check.” That’s the one where the dude says “okay, turn on your side, face the wall.”

I swear to God that SOB had a thumb the size of a Budweiser can. Still walkin’ kinda funny.
