What's up with Neil's nose?

Is this forum for teenagers? Please advise asap because I'm dropping off of it right now if that's what it is. Fricking childish pieces of shit that post adolescent answers. If Neil Peart is a drunk, he is the most functional alcoholic I've ever seen in my life. He is an intellectual, which is why most of you can't relate.

I see Neil couldn't resist the temptation to post here any longer. He's tolerated many derisive comments from his so-called fans over the years, but being called a lush was more than he could handle. The poor man finally snapped.

I can only imagine what Carrie must be dealing with tonight.

If he comes back, be sure to give him a warm :rush: welcome!

Dear Neil, Mr. Peart:

The Fourmers would like you to see a medical professional regarding your nose.

Please have it checked out.

They probably won't make you cough.

Thank you for your time,

Librarian c/o TRF

Symptoms and Signs

  • While symptoms vary in degree and location, experts say they always include at least one of the following: persistent redness, a propensity to flush or blush easily, small red bumps or pimples and visible blood vessels. Other symptoms are raised red spots called plaques, thickening of the skin due to extra tissue, itchy and bloodshot eyes, rough, dry skin, itching and swelling of the face, and other areas of skin being affected, such as the neck and shoulders. Rosacea is not contagious, and there are no known causes, only hypotheses such as sun irritations, skin bacteria, blood flow, abnormal inflammatory pathways and psychological factors. It has not been scientifically proven to be hereditary, but some evidence suggests that it might be. Often people with the condition can recall a family member having the same condition. A common misconception about bulbous, purple or red noses is that they are the result of consuming large amounts of alcohol earlier in life. But the condition appears in both patients who do drink alcohol as well as those who do not. It is also proven that there is not an increased risk of cancerhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png for patients with rosacea. However, it has been proven that drinking alcohol can compound the symptoms."

Sorry to resurrect this topic, but "neil peart nose" ranks REALLY high in Google search results.

My theory? Well, he's always been known for having his nose in a book. Maybe he shouldn't have closed it so hard. :laughing guy:

Surprised no one's joked about how it's due to all the cocaine that he allegedly still does!

No, that's why his balls are small and he gets nose bleeds. The size and color of the nose are because of the other reasons mentioned here.

Wow, I guess the story can't help but become clearer. Perfectionism really is hazardous to your health.

The hot nose comes from an overall circulatory issue, and is a real warning sign. I have (or had) the same thing. Digital cameras just light it up too.

Over the years of your life, refined sugar, salt and fat wreak havoc on your body, primarily the arteries. Combine that with stimulants - smoking, coffee, and the sugary booze.....inside your arteries and veins, your blood is not flowing like it should anymore.

The tissues of the nose are of course jammed with small capilaries and flow is disturbed causing the redness. Especially after eating or a days worth of food injestion it was really bad. I knew something was not right.

So for me, I jumped on my bike and started riding. Not a drop of alcohol for 5 years now, mostly veg diet, and as much as I can I have reduced fat and sugar intake. A couple years ago my daugther was in a triathlon, so I also started training for triathlons - swimming, biking and running. Three years into that, with constant training, bike commuting and just hating running cause it put me firmly in the hurt box - I have no more red nose!! :codger:

NP would have a lot of work to do, it can be done but he'd have to ditch the BMW and pickup a Cervelo, or Argon and make some drastic changes in lifestyle and workouts, tour way less too. On the road it is extremely difficult to eat correctly for this condition. Your diet is limited to steamed veggies, fruits, whole grains and nothing in a package or from a buttery-oil lathered restauraunt. It's near impossible when you are out and about.

:goodone: , one of a few constructive ones in here. No worries SFM, if anybody knows his body, than it's Neil. I'm sure he's aware of his physical condition very well.

Nose jokes never end...

Could it be simply the result of many years of exposure to the sun?
