Fine fine fine, I'll bite.

Intro video taking place in the year 2112. Takes place at a University, in a classroom. Alex is playing one of the students, a super nerdy kid with ADHD. Geddy's playing the total stoner bro stereotypical college kid. Neil is the professor (duh!). They are in a musical history class, talking about a terrible band called RASH. After a few minutes of bad puns regarding how much the band sucks, Neil says he has a VHS of one of the bands shows. He somehow gets the VHS into the 2112 age TV, and off we go.

If they could play Xanadu, Cygnus X-1 Book II (even just part of it), 2112, Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science, and La Villa Strangiato (with Alex's rants), I wouldn't care what else they played.

Better break out that Show of Hands Laserdisc and hope your player still works!

Or get the Replay X3 DVD

Lock And Key and Territories are on the laserdisc version and not the DVD version, and they don't have Alien Shore at all.

Well, if we assume this will be their farewell tour, the perfect bookend songs would be "Fly By Night" to signify their beginning and then close with "LimeLight" or perhaps "Time Stand Still" to say thank-you-and-goodbye. I don't think there'd be a dry eye in the house!

Don't very much care where they get placed in the setlist, I really just want to hear the following live (no particular order).

Test for Echo

Vapor Trail

Nocturne

Cut to the Chase

Natural Science

Available Light

2112 Overture/Temples/Grand Finale (yes, again, deal with it -- I'll take it in full if Rush showed an inclination to do it)

  • I did just go through this on another similar topic. But I can't resist but comment here as well. We already know we are going to get Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, 2112 (Temples) and YYZ as well as a drum solo. Freewill more than likely will come back on this tour. We more than likely will get a medley kind of like to the opening of the R30 setlist but will cover some other songs on our wishlists. More than likely we will get more of the radio hits on this tour considering the last tour's setlist mostly was made up of new songs and surprize songs, which was great for the true fans. But now they might have to do that tour with a few more popular or more familiar songs. Rush was real close to including Jacob's Ladder on the Clockwork tour. More than likely we get that song on R40. Vapor Trails being reissued as a remixed version means we more than likely get some songs from that album. But my guess is we get at least one or two songs they never played from Vapor Trails and maybe one or two we have seen already. My guess for the surprize song/s might be Freeze and/or Vapor Trail. We more than likely get a couple or a few songs from Clockwork Angels. If they dig deep from Hold Your Fire or they may be pulling from Show of Hands, please play Open Secrets. It's clearly one of the best songs on Hold Your Fire. I have gotten my fullfillment of Mission, and Turn the Page didn't even make it to my I-Pod. More than likely we'll get at least one of the surprize songs again from the Clockwork tour, Middletown Dreams or Manhatten Project. The band had discussed playing songs they hadn't played in a long time so I don't think the setlist will be too predictable. Anyway, I have the entire Signals album on my wishlist but we did get Digital Man on the Snakes and Arrows tour and they brought back The Analog Kid last year. I'd love to hear Chemistry and I think a modern live version of Losing It would be great. Rush has their ballads and more mellow songs and Losing It would fit that role in the setlist very nice. But I would prefer Available Light in that role instead. So I choose Coundown. I'd love to see that song performed with the big production. With the sounds of the space shuttle lifting off and the movie screen in the back, along with a killer light and laser show like Red Sector A got on the Clockwork tour, that song could create alot of energy. Twilight Zone is a song that could fit in any Rush era. I am very surprized this song hasn't been brought back already or played more when it was still new. A modern live version of this song could really give it new life. And I don't mean modern as in tuning it down 2 whole notes, I just want to hear it with the modern equipment and the big production. This song could be a big highlight in the show. Rush has been playing Working Man quite a bit so how about Fly By Night? I'd like to hear Afterimage close to the top of the setlist. And I'd like to hear In The End in the encore. And while we are playing some of the hits, I'd love to hear Broon's Bane/The Trees. Pay tribute to Exit Stage Left. Red Lenses and/or Scars. Scars was, in my opinion, the best song on the Presto tour. Look up the live version on Youtube or Google videos. Like Scars, the percussion work on Red Lenses takes center stage. I would love to watch Neil play this live. Red Lenses has alot of energy and is such a complex song. I can only imagine how active the light show would be with the chaos of this song. Cold Fire is very underrated and another song I am surprized was left behind.
