The Beatles for sure, also Bon Jovi gets way more credit than they deserve

That's obscene, putting The Beatles and Bon Jovi in the same sentence...

I suppose it depends upon syntax. Your sentence is a fine example of how they can co-exist in the same sentence. :hi: I'm sure we could could up with many others examples if we tried.

Yes, The Beatles have been discussed and dissected ad infinitum, but there is a reason for that scrutiny. The impact of The Beatles music and celebrity can not be overrated. Their music changed everything that followed in all genres of popular music - many genres that wouldn't even exist if were not for The Beatles. They were the standard bearers of a cultural change.

Most overrated band, imo. Easy. Coldplay. How many times are they going to play that damn rhythm?

For me is simple: The Beattles and U2. And i got my reasons.

The Beattles are as plain as a band can get, musically they just suck, is incredible that they make famous composing songs that any amateur guitarist can compous. I respect their ability to keep things simple, but that is the only good thing about them, that and John Lennon.

Somebody tell me please why U2 is the biggest band in the world. Whit the most stupid lyrics and music completly predictable and average in any begginer rock band, not to mention that pretensious self-claimed social message. Bob Dylan transmite more significanse whit one song that U2 whit teir entire catalog. If they want to make pop, go ahead, but not insult good music claiming themselves a rock band.

That are my reasons.

so tell me, which is the most overrated band in your opinnion?

My god, i wrote this? I forgotted completely.

What a huge jerk i was. I mean, im still pretty much a jerk, but i think im a lot calmer at least. Some things have changed the past 2 years. Sorry if somebody ever got offended reading that.

Yeah Akron, this one about the Beatles is a keeper.

" incredible that they make famous composing songs that any amateur guitarist can compous."

That's what we see all the time kids in music shops composing songs that own the Beatles, it happens so often, it's called Beatling. You see them in there with their Kay SG guitars, coming out with classics by the boatload...

Too lazy to go through the whole thread to see if they've been mentioned, but fukking Journey. The true definition of the term "butt rock".

Yup. Great musicians who wrote , for the most part, boring music.

I know they've been mentioned a thousand times but I have to say the doors. Most of the songs I've heard sound like they have 3 notes in them, at best. I don't know why but they just sound monotonous to me. And if I mention my hatred of them anywhere but TRF all I get is "But Jim Morrison was a POET!!!!!! He used his POETRY for LYRICS!!!!!!".

So f***ing what!? How does that make them a good band? How is that in any way related to the monotony thing?

Is it obvious that this has been bothering me my whole life?

The grateful dead

Yep. Still have no idea why 300,000 people showed up to see them. Or was it Owsley acid they went to the concert for?

Guns and Roses

Nirvana

Bruce Springsteen

Bob Dylan

The Doors

Yea. Its amazing how Howard Stern loves Bruce, but made fun of Rush getting into the hall? My satellite subscription is up in April. F**k Howard.

I like Journey then and now!

Yes, is the band that got me to notice. Rush and Yes have some things in common. Style and a special sound that no one else has. To even mention Yes in the context is "Heresy".

Um dude, I meant yes to his comment about Journey, NOT the band Yes. Not a gigantic fan of Yes like many here, but I know without a doubt that they are spectacular musicians, a GREAT band with many, many GREAT songs and should've been in the HOF years ago. I guess next time I'll say "concur 100%" rather than "yes" when agreeing with someone's post.

The Beatles are definitely the most overrated band of all time, people ramble on about their influence on modern pop music, one person even went so far as to state that: "anything ever done in music was done by the Beatles first, even if the band came before them" which to me really displays the depths to how far the Beatles are worshiped. Sure they experimented, and had an influence on a great many bands, but definitely not all, or even most bands, The Rolling Stones were formed on the principle of being everything the Beatles weren't (the anti-Beatles if you will), and Jimmy Page owned a sitar before George Harrison ever did. What really upsets me was when the Beatles discography was released on iTunes a few years back, which introduced a whole new generation to the overrated pop that the Beatles are. Suddenly it was cool and "indie" to listen to the Beatles, and it wasn't the good psychedelic, experimental Beatles, it was the pop drivel from Beatlemania. People often accuse me of being a pretentious hipster, and state that I hate anything mainstream, and since The Beatles are the most mainstream band of all time, that's why I dislike them. I never like or dislike any music based on it's popularity, it is a fact that most (or even all) mainstream music of today is complete and utter shit, but I don't dislike it based on the fact that it's popular, my favorite album of all time is probably Dark Side of the Moon, which puts down any claims as such. I dislike the Beatles because they aren't musically talented, and their influence is blown way out of proportion. Ringo sat is constantly put on "Best Drummers of all Time" lists, even though he should be considered one of the worsts to ever pick up the instrument. Paul McCartney is one of the worst songwriters of all time, just look at his solo material, which leaves George and John, which are the only members I consider to be decent.

Time to deal with the backfire...
