The Following (Un-#$%^ing-believable)

Last night's episode was a good one.

I loved the scene where Bacon pulls on rubber gloves before interrogating the follower who says he won't tell Bacon anything, and in the next scene you see that he obviously told Bacon where Joey was being held

Still feeling more like 24 to me... I did like...

when he finally said "I know you can't kill me" - that's what's I've been saying for weeks  I guess they finally heard me yelling at the TV

The show should be called "The Commercials"

Am I the only one who is getting a little bored with it? I liked the first couple episodes and thought the concept had real promise but they are really failing to execute. Kevin Bacon's character is one of the least threatening and least interesting heroic (if that is what he is supposed to be) lead characters I can remember in an action/drama. In fact the whole entire FBI team come off and incompetent and stupid. The idea that a goofy mix of psychopaths and an insane college professor could plan this out from prison and execute it flawlessly and stay ahead of an ever confused FBI team is getting harder and harder to buy into. This supposedly seasoned FBI team seems shocked and unprepared for everything they come up against right down the the lady who supposedly is some kind of expert in dealing with cults and this insane type of behavior. I know you need to suspend some disbelief when watching shows like this but they are asking for a bit much and not giving enough back and the whole things has turned a bit silly. I will probably watch the rest of the season but I can see myself bailing after that unless the story gets much more interesting in some way.

I guess this is what i get for watching so many cable drama's. It makes this network stuff look juvenile. I wonder how this show would have turned out if it was put in the hands of writers working for Showtime or HBO.

Yeah, I'm bored with it but I'll finish out the season. This cult is the least scary I've ever seen. Lame.

I had that same feeling a couple weeks ago. Like in the latest episode, when they got to the dock. First thing I said was "disable their getaway car"... They didn't hear me :)

I agree i am kind of getting bored with it...To many characters to keep track of too! Yeah whats with the commericials...i watch it on FOX not sure what you all watch it on.

I am using my DVR to avoid all the commercials.

That's the only way to do it. There are a few shows that I will not watch without having in on the DVR... this one, Once Upon A Time... I usually watch it later or the next day... or wait until about 25 after to start it

Well, perhaps unsurprisingly, I disagree with people who think the show has "lost its fastball." On some level, I suppose its a little like the transition from a SNL skit to a full length movie. Once you start stretching it out, it can get thin at times.

My good friend LiX mentioned Once Upon a Time. We're big fans in my house, too. However, I have to admit that I have trouble following the story this season, and liked last season more. Similarly, last year Touched was fantastic. The idea of a gifted boy bringing people together was great. This year, of course, the boy's father is no longer a 9-11 widower. He's Jack Bauer. I don't mean that as a compliment. My point being that every good show that is a continuing story, rather than a series of stand alone episodes, can be tough to sustain over time.

For those saying the story is too "dramatic" or "far fetched" I'll simply say it's not a documentary. The story is still intriguing, and it keeps you guessing. A colleague of mine is still convinced SA Parker is a member of the cult. You never know who, other than Hardy or Carroll, are going to get it from week to week.

And, know this: If this show gets cancelled, and we get stuck with another stupid lawyer/cop/doctor drama in its place, well, let's just say I will bust out my Edgar Allen Poe anthology and find you.

All of you.

 I am going to stick this season out, but I dunno about next season.... unless there is an amazing ending to this one. Funny you mention Touch with having Jack Bauer in season 2. I've said it in previous posts that this show is starting to feel a lot like 24 to me. Especially with the timing of events. They are almost at the house, they escape. Got 'em at the dock, they escape.... well, the important characters escape.

The first season of 24 was one of the greatest TV serials ever. After the first season it was all down hill. It's hard to see how they could extend this story over more than 1 or 2 seasons.

The trailer for tonight's episode makes me sad for Ryan's sister. No one else in that position ends up OK at the end of the episode.

What happens to Ryans sister?? If its a spoiler message me.

It happened a few weeks ago. Maggie, Rick's (the guy who sets people on fire) wife, kidnapped her. The trailer showed Maggie telling Ryan that.

There is too much good TV programming on cable for me to lose sleep over a cancelled network show.
