I traded my Blues Jr toward getting one of these, a 1975 Deluxe Reverb.

Similar to mine which is a '78.

Nice! Wait, don't you absolutely rave about that amp?

I don't know if I'd say "rave" but it sounds great, despite maybe needing new tubes. Not sure because I like it. My buddy has a Blues Deluxe that I really like too which has a little more variety because of it's distortion flavors. Overdriving the Deluxe Reverb can yield mixed results, depending on the overdrive/line booster/pre amp. When you drive it a little it sounds really good just as it breaks up a bit. The one I have has a pull drive on the second channel but it is harsh and kills low end. But when it is clean it is super clean and you can really hear the fundamental differences between guitars. It is an amp I don't think I will ever get rid of. Especially now that I have the little Marshall for the killer distortion tones. The guy I record with has a couple Boogies, a couple GK's, the Blues Deluxe, an AC-15 and a Marshall like mine so we are more than covered for all kinds of tones. :)

But compared to a lot of the emulated amps sims I have used I would take this amp recorded over any sim I can pull up.

I've read a lot about those amps with the pull drive, and to a person, everyone has said they never use the pull drive.

Mine doesn't have it. I think yours was thefirst year they made it that.

I got the amp for its cleans and verge of break up tones. I have no problem letting pedals do the rest. And of course I have my Mesa Boogie if I need natural tube heavy overdrive.

Indeed. I think the pull thing started as a mod and then they incorporated their own version. The little red BB pre amp pedal my friend has sound the best. I have an EH one that is a little muddy but not horrible. My old MXR Distortion+ can get a little scratchy too. What I need is an A-B-Y pedal (if I ever played guitar live) to go into both the Fender and Marshall at the same time. Since most of what I do is studio "work" I don't really need too much of a live set up.

Would love to hear some of your playing.

Agreed. I think the one I want is the BB+, if that's the red-ish one.

Here are my drive boxes (minus the Black 65, which was in my chain.) The big gray one is the Neo Ventilator, the Leslie Speaker simulator.

Just FYI, the BB+ is a beast! Both channels are hotter than the original BB pre amp. Channel A (right side) of the AC+ is more like the original BB pre amp, especially with the comp button pressed in.

Sorry the pic is blurry, but you can definitely tell what is what.

The one I am familiar with is the smaller one which my friend has and he also has the AC+.

He has the BB pre amp. They make the original BB, they also make one with a mids boost. There is also an Andy Timmons signature model. You can't go wrong with any of them. Like I said before, if you like the sound of your friend's pedal, the BB+ isn't really going to give you that. The AC+ can give you that sound , though.

Hi there, cool stuff all you people!

Over the years i became totally fed up moving around big racks and speakercabs, so i made myself a mini rig with most of the essentials for rush tone, but very light weight.

The pedalboard: chi wah wah > xotic bb+ > sonic research turbo tuner > byoc trem > byoc phase90 > coolcat chorus > tc flashback. All pedals except the wah were rehoused for reducing amount of total size. Now, the pedalboard nicely fits in the back of my amp: groove tubes soul-o-single 1x12.

My main players:

Musicman silhouette - great workhorse:

Gibson HRF1 - just wonderfull:

Where is the BB+? I am a big fan of Xotic. I have a n AC+, a BB+, an SP compressor, and I am gassing for the EP Boost.

@CygnusX-1Bk2: Don't we all?... ;)

Thx Rushaholic!

@Sheldon Cooper: Does this pic ring a bell?

Xotic pedals are great! The sp compressor is on my to do list!

The idea for rehousing was about saving space, but also about needing as less as possible patchcable. Each cable incl it's 2 plugs sucks a little out of your tone. The pedal on this picture contains bb+ > tb-loop > tc flashback. This way i keep my signal a little cleaner and healthier.

Yep! I saw rushfanNlv's post where you said you had rehoused a few pedals. I see the BB+ controls on the right. I see the controls for the Flashback, as well (I have the TC Electronic Alter Ego, which is a Flashback with two different modes that replace the lo-fi and dynamic modes on the Flashback.) What is the 4th switch for? Did it just come with the housing?

BTW - I also have a Music Man guitar, a John Petrucci 6 string with a piezo bridge.

That is a great guitar, if i had to choose just one guitar for everything, that might be it! :)

The fourth switch on the pedal (third actually ;)...) is a tb-loop. It allows me to insert my tuner and modulation box (trem/phase/chorus) in and out the signal chain.
