  1. QUOTE (VarianStar @ Aug 30 2010, 05:27 AM) Overrated: "The Camera Eye" I know a lot of people love this song and have been asking for years to hear it live. I just don't get the love for it. This song just seems so flat to me, it doesn't go anywhere. There's no buildup, no exciting part, nothing emotional in it which reaches out and grabs me. It's just there. Underrated: "High Water" I find this to be one of their most beautiful songs and it's always getting dumped on. Alex does some amazing work and the chorus soars with some really great vocals from Geddy. This song is another example of how Rush can blend amazing lyrics, music, and vocals into a truly magical song. I don't understand why more people don't hear what I hear when listening to this song. Your choice of "The Camera Eye" is strange to me, because the reasons you gave are exactly why I love it. The music and lyrics are perfect together. I definitely agree with "High Water" being underrated. Absolutely love the song. Otherwise I can't think of any I really think are under/overrated. Most of the time I could say all of Rush is underrated. But I know very few people in the world would agree with that, so I don't say it.
  2. I was so drunk at the 8/18 show, and I thought the end of Tom Sawyer was hilarious. You can't tell me the audience doesn't pick up on mistakes. Anyway it makes a unique show, it's much more memorable. I kinda like it a bit better than going home and telling everyone, "Yeah, they played perfect. You know, like always." Also, seeing stuff like that from your musical idols, as a young musician, makes you feel more like it's okay to make mistakes, and that it happens to everyone. I certainly make my fair share of them, and can't blame them for doing it, especially since their songs are so much harder. When they're that hard, I can imagine it doesn't take much to have an off night.
  3. Could I send something to any venue? I don't see why I couldn't, but I ask because I already went to both of my shows and didn't know about this.
  4. QUOTE (Srgsx @ Aug 18 2010, 08:25 AM) The show was great although it was clear the guys were not having a great time. Even on an off night they still sound great ! I thought Alex and Geddy were fine, they seemed to have fun. Just Neil during the first half seemed a bit frustrated. I'm sure tonight will be even more incredible, for one they should have any bugs worked out, another thing they'll be more rested, and last because I'll be 35 rows closer than a couple nights ago.
  5. QUOTE (Slipperypick @ Aug 17 2010, 09:16 PM) I think there were alot of technical difficulties. It seemed like both Geddy and Alex were having monitor issues throughout the night; Alex broke a string in Time Stand Still; he was hitting the wrong chords in Marathon, and several solos were very sloppy, especially YYZ. Now, I wouldn't say "very" sloppy. It wasn't his best night on a couple songs though. I have to say, they played 2112 better than I have EVER heard it, live or studio. They were right on.
  6. The show was great, but it had its share of things that went wrong. Obviously the technical difficulties. But also, there was a trainwreck about halfway through "The Camera Eye". Don't tell me nobody else noticed. I thought it was awesome to watch and hear them get back in sync, but still. Does anyone know for sure who messed up there? I was pretty sure Alex was playing it right, and Geddy messed up, and I couldn't tell who Neil was playing along with. Next, I saw Geddy nearly fall over during a song, while he was using pedals. Neil almost lost it during "La Villa Strangiato" on one fill, but he saved it just in time. He's good! And my final thought for the post, was it just me or did Neil just look terrible? I think he had a rough day. He did end up looking like he was enjoying himself though. Hopefully he looks better tomorrow night after resting today and tomorrow! I'll be much closer for this show, I can't wait!
  7. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Aug 11 2010, 01:37 PM) I think that he was still in a dream. I think that the way the ending has you wondering is pretty cool; it could be either way because the top continued to spin but it wobbled. I hope they don't ruin it with a sequel that exposes it. I don't think Nolan is big on sequels. He did it with Batman Begins, but he doesn't want to do a third, and not only because of Heath Ledger's passing. I would be extremely surprised to hear of an Inception sequel.
  8. Cell phones have not even been around that long, I don't know how people can say they NEED them at all. Everything was fine before we had them. That's the way I look at it. Sure they make many things a hell of a lot more convenient, but I like to avoid mine sometimes, so that I don't one day lose my head if my phone is lost. I need to know I can still handle a situation without it.
  9. I guess I must have been one of the earliest to have mine delivered. It arrived sometime last week, but I had it shipped to my parent's house. I haven't been there to even see it yet. I'm excited for Sunday, when I will be visiting!
  10. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jul 14 2010, 02:19 PM) Was GUP really a concept album? It wasn't. Rush has never done a concept album, so this will be something new if it happens.

  12. QUOTE (steelcaressed @ Jun 20 2010, 09:47 PM) QUOTE (Silas Lang @ Jun 21 2010, 12:09 AM) In Rush's bottom 30 for sure. I agree....except I would say bottom 10. What's worse? Higher Water, Tai Shan, Superconductor, and a few others from RTB? Neurotica, You Bet Your Life, etc. I love the band, but that bottom 10 is tripe. To bounce back to the pizza analogy, that bottom 10 has anchovies on it. I love High Water and Tai Shan! Actually I don't care for Lock and Key all that much... Also, I happen to like anchovies.
  13. QUOTE (daveyt @ Jun 20 2010, 04:00 PM) i love it f the haterz Haters gonna hate. I've always loved this song. It's a lot better than "Where's My Thing?". WMT? is easily my least favorite instrumental by them.
  14. I'm always at work until at least midnight. I suppose if I wasn't though, I'd be at home. So I'm gonna have to say my excuse is that I'm not 21 yet! I can only use this excuse about another month though...
  15. QUOTE (Earthshine @ Jul 31 2006, 10:34 PM) 7. You check out the music of bands that have opened for Rush to see what the combination of them and Rush may have been like. I just wanted to say, I'm so sad I missed Rush with Primus. If Rush ever starts touring with an opening act again (you know, when they're old and have less energy...lol) I want them to take Primus with them! Hell even if it was some kind of co-headlining thing! Come to think of it, that might be even better considering I'd be getting more of both. What a legendary combo they had to be.
