Ok, nevermind. I see other venues are doing it too. Sorry Rush! Doh!

So, I stumbled on the platinum ticket classification when looking at the Buffalo show. In case you havn't seen it, the band has set aside lots of awesome seats. They are being sold at a higher price but I think a pretty fair price. Last evening there were seats available in the 2nd and 3rd row for the $450 to $550 range. Yes, it's expensive but the same seats from scalpers are over a grand.....some well over a grand. But then as I looked at other shows I realised that no other venues are offering this platinum plan. Why? It's a great idea! Real fans can actually get a great seat without having to pay scalper prices. And the band gets the money instead of the greaseballs. Anybody know why they wouldn't just do this at all shows instead of just one? It's so frustrating. I can't figure out how such a popular band that's been in the game for so long can't have people around them making sure that the ticket buying experience for such a loyal fan base is the absolute best it can be. It's a real shame.

The Rush formula has been the same since I first saw them on the 2112 tour, except they are the whole show now and the show is longer. They make a new record. They tour on that material. They play some well received songs from previous tours. They take time off. (more since they have gotten older) They make another new record. They tour on that new material etc... My routine has stayed the same too, like most real old timer fans of all the band does. :codger: I am at the record store the day the new album comes out. I absorb all the new material, trying to figure out what the hell they are doing this time. Then I get it, and I love it. Then they tour and I am there, hoping to hear those new songs. I have heard the older ones plenty. Let me hear the new ones. They deliver. Then throw in some classics cuz I like them and I love the crowd reaction. They deliver. Then hit me with some surprises...the so called deep cuts. They deliver. Then I wait for the new record. (waiting a lot longer these days but...) I'm at the store on release date and here we go again! I think they have done an amazing job of staying true to their roots, their style (or lack there of), their formula and their fans. And to have done it for 40+ years now? Unprecedented, period. The best band ever! :rush:

I don't have time to read this entire thread to see if this has already been said.... Old fan here. All tours since 2112. 41 shows total. Like most fans from my generation I have been at the store on release day every time, slept out for as many as 3 nights for good tickets etc.... You old guys know what I'm talking about! After 41 shows in 35 years, the new stuff is what I go to see now! You have been going since Hemispheres! Why would you want to see the same older stuff over and over? For me, every tour, I wish they would lose some always played stuff and play more new stuff or rarely played stuff. I get my wish this tour!

Phone went down for the remainder of the show. Now phones? That is an invasion and obstruction. Not people. I had a 6th row seat pretty much ruined by one of those a-holes at one of the Rush shows I went to last tour. Never again! I WILL confront anyone that does this in front of me from now on.

Like other positive comments....what a song! Like so many of us fans, Rush and Neil's writing has been by my side through so much. But, while I loved the last few records, they havn't provided me that kind of emotional attachment. This album, in particular this song, is doing it for me. It's so great to feel it again after so long. I never thought it would happen. Anyway....The Garden....Wonderful lyrics. The strings, the piano, Ged's wonderful singing and that solo from Alex. Just amazing! You can really hear his David Gilmour influences. Well done boys! The only thing that scares me about the song is it almost sounds like a goodbye. I know it's not but...

Well, well, well.... I was so disappointed when I heard the 2 different versions of the 30 second clips. That's a mistake I will never make again!! All I can say now (still early in the game with 3 listens) is WOW! Really liking what I hear and the way the album flows. And to end it all with "The Garden"? I thought the days of Rush bringing me to that level of emotion were long gone. What a pleasant surprise! We'll see how time affects my opinion but I sure am excited now and hoping for LOTS of Clockwork Angels on the tour!

What bugs me about it most is how it translates to the stage. My 1st Rush show was the 2112 tour. They sounded sooo good in concert back then and really through the 80s. Their concerts these days don't sound as clean and I think it's because of this "heavy", distorted, "grungy" sound Alex is in to. Even the older songs sound "heavier" these days. To me it makes the concerts sound too blown out and all the wonderful subtle stuff gets lost. Just so you all know, I'm one of those old guys that NEVER says anything bad about my favorite band. This is a first. It's not a huge deal. I love them. I will buy the new record and probably end up loving it. I will see them at least a few times on the tour. I will always support them as long as they want to play! "Dirty" is perhaps the word you were grasping for... I say "angry" sound. Alex is avenging the 80s synth dominating and drowning out his guitars Yeah well from his viewpoint it might be dirty. It's more of a saturated sound than a dirty sound in truth. Over saturated....yes
