What got you interested in this beanie I didn't know you followed football? :hail:

 

Well I don't really follow football, not the NFL anyway...which is why I wouldn't participate by making my own picks. I f***ing love spreadsheets, though, and I'm well-suited to this sort of task.

 

I followed last year's pool because friends* were participating, so I looked at this thread, too; I saw an opportunity to help you folks with your pool, and here we are. I've already got the regular season schedule built into my spreadsheet, and I'll probably program most of the formulas tomorrow :smoke:

 

*no offense to those of you who are still friends I haven't "met" yet :)

Of course for a pick to be valid the time stamp will have to indicate the pick was made prior to kick off. Should there be a deadline for picks to be posted or will that make things more complicated?

The deadline is before kickoff is ON the air. If the time stamp is 1 minute later than that I say it's a no go.

Let's not over think this

That's the beauty of the NFL they don't delay start times for very long if ever.

Thursday kickoff is 8:37PM EST almost on the nose.

Sunday games are 1PM EST almost exactly straight up, and Sunday, Monday nights are at the 8:37PM EST

Again we are adults and we can police ourselves, but I say put this in the rules.

OK one last item Shall this seasons confidece pool expire at the end of the regular season as it did last year? I remember some of us trying to continue into the playoffs but treeduck was burnt out (I assume) and it ended. So should this new pool extend into the playoffs all the way to the big dance? If so I suggest a points multiplier as there will only be up to 4 games a week then decreasing to one. As always I would like to keep it simple but I would also like to continue into the post season.

As the defending champion of this co...po it was a struggle to get to the end of the season. If we are to go into the post season we should determine NOW whether we should do so or not. The season's points total should matter just like having the best record from the season in the NFL. Then carry on with the multiplier system you've spoken about. Either way I hope someone can keep count each week cause at times it was a struggle for me just to get picks in on time.

I'm ok with going into the playoffs. But only 2 or 4 teams..no more and leaning only 2

Multiplier is fine, but let''s decide now...not later....during the season it's just picks.

Also if people get bored, stop picking and say there are only 3 people left playing by Mid December let's have a final vote from the 'Possible' playoff teams....no one want to watch other people playing..

I like this too, because it puts some pressure on both parties in the playoffs...if you need the points to catch someone or to put them away, may have some bearing on your selection process
