August 1, 2015 at the Los Angeles/Inglewood Forum. Can you believe it's already been a year since Rush's last concert? I know we all had so much fun, either seeing the show in person or on Periscope. Here are some memories...

(Click image for the full article)

Tombstone Mountain also made a video to go along with these memories:

Silly things that Rush did on this tour:

I've seen hundreds of concerts over my 37-year history of going to gigs, and I have to say that R40 was the best show I've ever seen. The combination of the music, musicianship, setlist, raw emotion, and my own personal experience combined into a night that I will never forget. The house lights came up after the band was finished and I felt like I was high simply because of the energy and passion I had been a part of!

Let's hear your thoughts and memories...

I had a great time at the Portland show with with my friends and RUSH roadtrippers of 30+ years. From the left are Mark, Dennis (best man @my wedding), and Jeff. I'm on the right. The four of us always put on a show for those sitting around us, as we know every lyric and note and sing/play along in concert with the band. The R40 show was a perfect end to three decades of RUSH memories with these guys.

Great idea for a thread, Gina!

Do you know if anyone took pics at the Seattle meet-up before the show?

I believe pics were taken after I went to look for a ticket. Citizen or Tombstone mentioned that. You can photoshop me in! Edited by goose

Spring of 2015 was a hard time for me. I've gone already through a turbulent phase in 2014 (exams, split-up of my relationship, falling in love with my current girl...). It was an emotional rollercoaster and I didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Out of nowhere my father died on the 8th of May and I decided to have a few drinks that night. I sat in my living room, don't know what to do and turned on the computer. It was opening night of the R40 tour and as I received the first signals from a thing called Periscope, everything changed. I had found a new priority in my life. The burning question was...how can I manage it to cross the pond and see this show?

After I had dealt with all my private inconveniences, I tried to find a date for the trip.

June went and I decided to go to the Kansas, Denver and Salt Lake shows. That idea came very fast to an abrupt end and I planned for Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. Now this idea died almost faster than my first attempt. My mother had a surgery and she was in hospital in early July. As she returned it was pretty clear that I had only one chance left - 3 days LA, the grand finale...

I really hope Rush has another album in them, but I can't see it happening. Neil doesn't seem too interested in gearing up again, and a Geddy/Alex project (while it would still be cool) wouldn't be the same. But I am grateful for all I've gotten to experience. Three epic live shows, nineteen sensational albums (well, except for Caress of Steel), and an amazing community of fans. It's a tough time for classic rock fans, what with our heroes getting older. Queen (kind of), Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Elton John are still kicking, but they aren't getting any younger, either. Such a shame.

Spring 2015 was a weird and hard time for me as well. Going through intense therapy, marriage at an end, ex-wife moving out of state (and we had bought tickets to two of the final shows-- she moved a week before the concerts, so 2 lucky friends got those extra tickets). Lots of stuff going on.

The shows were very cathartic, and I'm very grateful to have been there with my friends.

When they broke into "Losing It" in LA, I lost it myself... i suspect I wasn't the only one. Both shows were excellent.. two of the best I'd seen them do (Irvine and LA). It was so good to hear the "Hemispheres Prelude" and "Animate" again (I missed R30 so I hadn't heard those songs live since 1994), and finally hear "Jacob's Ladder" in concert. The return of "Xanadu"...That final bow was very emotional.

Of all the things they did, Xanadu with the doublenecks made it perfect. To have it come full circle and see it again from my first concert to probably my last was just awesome beyond belief.

That's a great point. And you just reminded me of something. Irvine Meadows and the Forum were the two places I saw Rush the most over the years. It was so fitting that they were back at those venues... my first Rush show was HYF at the Forum, and I saw lots of Forum and Irvine shows throughout the 90s and 00s. Full circle indeed.

RobertRobyn pointed out a part two of the fan documentary. I don't think there are any TRFers in there (although is that Citizen of the World at ~1:33?).

The last six minutes are just loading out and driving off, so it's a bit boring.

So glad you made the trip man. It was a highlight of my life to sit and drink beers with you poolside, and just get to know each other. Hanging out at the show is a memory that'll live in my mind forever!

Yeah, it really was a cool time we had there, my friend, but hey, next time we'll stretch it, 2 or 3 days longer.

Is it 1 year already?

They've now been retired for over a year :(

I don't see Geddy and Alex sitting around doing nothing too much longer. Neil, on the other hand, is more than likely done.
