The first band that came to mind is The Gaslight Anthem.

I bought "The '59 Sound" on a whim just by the cover and title without ever hearing them or of them.

Little did I know that I was about to find out that rock and roll, in fact, is not dead.

Their music is everything that is good about good old fashioned rock and roll.

Sounds like another band I need to check out. I have heard their name, but I didn't know what they sounded like. But your recommendation is enough to spark my interest.

It's  a shame this thread is filling up with old sounds.

There are plenty of current bands making great music with modern styles.

Where is Union and PolariseMe when I need them...

Sigur Rós is probably my favorite band post-2000. Although their best album was released in 1999.

I love Deerhunter. A great alternative/indie/post-punk band. Halcyon Digest is wonderful and might be my favorite album post-2000.

The Dear Hunter released The Color Spectrum, a nine EP concept series that is incredibly consistent and diverse.

Riverside, Haken and Gazpacho are among my favourites. Most or all of their output has been since 2000.

Day Of Light recommended me Karnivool, so I played Sound Awake.

What a great album and what a wonderful band!

Prog is more alive than ever.

I was looking for this thread for a few days cause I think you mentioned it briefly the last time we were on Rabit with Union. Yeah, I've been all over this kind of thing for the past two years now yet I don't know where to begin with my own take on this quite honestly.

Simple:

Notable releases that you think justify the worth of modern rock and metal. Any genre!
