Both solid songs with themes about living out your dreams. But the question is, which one do you prefer?

I pick Middletown Dreams.

I agree 100%.

"Middletown Dreams" gets a slight advantage in my opinion...for personal reasons.

Two great tunes - not sure which one I prefer. There's something youthful and cool about Lee's vocal performance on Middletown Dreams.

Middletown is just better overall.

Dreamline has moments where the inertia dies for no reason. Rupert Hine's lack of vision is evident here as he couldn't help them shape the song.

"We are young" is when the song goes downhill, losing all momentum.

Dreamline all the way.

Middletown isn't even competition for it.

Man just when I thought we were coming together you pull this.

Seriously though, Dreamline is a song for Rupaul and a feather boa...nothing more.

Every time I hear Geddy sing that line I think about Pat Benatar.

(Not that there is anything wrong with Pat Benatar...I happen to like her music).

It's wrong in a Rush song

I love Dreamline but I'll go with Middletown Dreams. It's simply beautiful; the bass, guitar, drums, vocals and keys all sound like magic. That "ohhhh" at the start of the first chorus gets me every time. It's among the best vocal parts Geddy has ever done.

^^^^about sums it up

I'm not sure exactly what that means?

Middletown is a good song, it's just that Dreamline beats it in every way possible.

I'll third this. Don't know what it is about MD, but it somehow gets stuck in my brain a lot.

Dreamline is a great tune from an era which for me doesn't have a lot of great tunes. So this is a tough choice for me, but my first instinct was MD, so I'll stick to that.
