And when he did the Invasion album it's like he said to himself "at last I'm free!" and just went nuts on his solos. It's like he took all the fast bits of his previous solos and strung them altogether into one long solo. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the album and his solos, but there's no denying that they're way over the top in terms of being well constructed. And yet that first Invasion album was my album of the day, it ROCKS! :haz:

Thinking about seeing them this summer. I know they're a hard rock band but I like their song Beth the best. :)

If Kulick would have shown that much balls with his playing, he would have left more of a mark in the band

Seriously, Vinnie seems like a lost soul - all the talent in the world - great songwriter, singer, and he's got great chops on the guitar - but so much shit seems to follow him ...

Didn;t one of his wives mysteriously die ??

Yeah I was surprised when Kulick piped up. I don't know why he was so sore it's not like his guitar playing on that album is particularly memorable. He's a good guitarist but not much identity in it and he hasn't much stage presence. It's like he's invisible at times. When I first saw him in 1984 I thought well ok he's new and it might take a while for him to get established but he pretty much was always that guy who you didn't really notice that much.

Bruce the Spruce... Cause he stood there like a tree.:)

I went to one of those official conventions in 1995. At the time, $100 seemed SO expensive, but compared to today's concert and VIP pricing, it looks now like a steal. The band took questions for nearly an hour, played unplugged for over TWO hours, and then hung around to sign stuff for at least another half-hour. Plus lots of other fun stuff earlier in the day. It was an awesome time.

Poor Bruce and Eric, though, had to sit there and wait as question after question went to Gene and Paul (understandable, of course). So I'm not too surprised that Bruce went for it there when he saw an opening!

Bruce is a great player (and especially shined on Revenge and Carnival Of Souls), but I'm not sure that he was ever a great fit for KISS, stylistically speaking. I actually prefer Thayer being in the band over him.

No one could ever match Ace in his prime though, that's for sure.

WKRP In Cincinnati

I watched it because of this:

I had that poster once upon a time.

I had it on my wall...along with a Leroy Nieman print. Edited by goose

"Deuce" is a really, really good song.

Seriously!

I can't tell you how much I loved those first six studio albums growing up.

But it has been in recent years that I've come to appreciate how good those first three albums are.

I learned never to sell Kiss short. They knew what they were doing. Yes, it's all product. Yes, it's about making money. But, the songs back it all up. They were an entertaining band with an incredibly diverse repertoire of songs.

If I had a time machine and could go back to any one past concert/tour, KISS in 1975 with Rush opening would probably be my pick. Either that or KISS opening for Black Sabbath (which I'm pretty sure happened that same year).

1975 would've been THE year to see KISS, imo. Look up the Midnight Special appearance if you haven't seen it. One of their all-time best filmed performances. Energy and chemistry is off the charts. The version on Kissology unfortunately omitted "Deuce", which just killed.
