I'm in the minority, but HYF.

I'll get a bad rap for this, but my top 5 albums of their's are -

Snakes and Arrows

Counterparts

Hold Your Fire

Power Windows

Hemispheres

then - Clockwork, Moving Pictures, Signals, etc

No bad wrap. Out of the 8, 3 of them are great so you got that going for you which is nice...

All excellent choices, except Signals, but otherwise good list. I'd put Clockwork higher personally but that's just me.

Don't get me wrong, HYF is a very good album, and for me the last of what I would term their "great" albums.

But there is no way in a million years it can be compared to 2112 which is just magnificent.

I should be flogged for actually taking a moment to consider this. Side A of 2112 seals the deal but is Tai Shan really worse than Twilight Zone?

See I agree so much!

Some of the bands worst songs were from the seventies. Sure, saying they are all better than the worst of the nineties is hardly a surprise, but so many treat the seventies releases like they were top to bottom flawless!

Passage To Bangkok is crud. Nice riffs but nope! Lessons? Great riffing but any band in the seventies could have done it. Something For Nothing? Per-lease.

HYF might on the surface sound like a shiny pop album, but it hits emotional highs 2112 could only if dreamed of (discounting the title track, which I personally find to be deeply emotive).
