Nobody's Hero- 6/10. meh. I appreciate the Lyrics. but it Kinda drags on for me.

Between Sun and Moon-7/10Quirky. Don't know what the hell Neil wrote but........i love his drums on this track.

Alien Shore- 10/10. Yea man!!!!!! it works. Love the oddball lyrics here too. Alex rock's here

Speed of Love-0/10. well.........some things never change

Double Agent-9/10. What were they smoking? and i want some. NERDS!!!!!!! I love how out there this is.

Leave That Thing Alone-10/10. Perfect instrumental. Always loved it.

Cold Fire-10/10. Great pop/rock tune. Catchy hooks. one of Al's most overlooked solos.

Everyday Glory-10/10 I hear U2 in the opening riff. One of Rush's best closers. Tuneful. Beauty really.

Mick

Your 10/10's are making me question my lower ratings.

Alien Shore and Leave That Thing Alone are KILLER!

And Double Agent is a beast!

Bowl City was right all along...

it took forever........but i think it's because i was taking my approach to this record to seriously.

it's the oddball. lighten up, lol

I used a GPA kind of scale. That is, 4 points.

0=fail, 1= below average, 2=average, 3=above average, 4=superior.

I like Counterparts but the score was much lower than I expected: 2.27. Here's the break down...

0 points: 1 song

1 point: 1 song

2 points: 4 songs

3 points: 4 songs

4 points: 1 song

By comparison, their worst album (RTB) got 1.8.

I'd rate it but I would have to listen to it. Not gonna happen.

Why not? Music won't kill you...though, at times, you may feel you'd like to die.

I've already heard it. Life's too short to do it twice.

Gotcha. Yeah, I haven't heard RTB all the way through in maybe 5 years. On the opposite end, I listened to AFTK twice in a row just yesterday.

It's nice to see some others are realizing was a great album this is. I've known how good it is for the last 22 years. Better late than never when it comes to appreciating this album.

I got into Rush around the time this album was released. So, it will always have a special place with me. Plenty of awesome memories of discovering Rush whenever I listen to it. For a long time it was my favorite album from them. It's slipped a bit over the years but still would make my top ten.

Well, if everyone else is doing it…

Animate: 9.4. The beat in this song is just plain awesome. And I love that main guitar riff. Frankly, this whole song is awesome.

Stick It Out: 8.3. Gotta tell you, this song doesn't resonate with me quite as much as it used to. Still solid, but there is such a thing is too heavy. It works with thrash metal, but with Rush there is a limit.

Cut to the Chase: 9.6. Love the bass on this song! It kind of sounds like a heavier variation of "Break on Through (to the Other Side)" by the Doors.

Nobody's Hero: 9.5. Such an underrated masterpiece. See, Rush can write good ballads, too (though The Garden is better)!

Between Sun and Moon: 9.2. I like the transition from hard rock in the verses to that beautiful, almost ballad-esque, chorus. Very solid.

Alien Shore: 9.3. Slappin' da bass!

The Speed of Love: 5.0. It's not…bad, but it's not…good, either. It drones on too long and puts me to sleep whenever I hear it.

Leave That Thing Alone!: 9.7. Oh, great, something to wake me up! Great song placement. In all seriousness, though, great instrumental. I really like the bassline here. It's just plain awesome.

Double Agent: 9.5. Yes, I love this song. It's weird, it's "demented" (Geddy's words, not mine), and it's kind of cool. It's like three songs mashed up into one.

Everyday Glory: 9.9. I can't find any wrong in this song. Great lyrics, great message, great hook. Only problem is that it fades out.

It has proven to be kind of an odd album, structurally speaking, and going a lot of different directions, stylistically- but I've always liked Counterparts. I don't like ALL of it quite as well as when it was first released, but I still do like it a lot.

My name's Mick and um.......yea i enjoy this album now. No stop Laughing......right now. The gates have opened.

This is basically a collection of Rush oddities. Taken like that....this album has weird beauty to it.

It's silly.......absoloultly stupid in spots but owns it.

I sit astounded.

Mick

I told you! It took me a while to get it. But it hit me when I was listening to Between Sun And Moon that Rush can be goofballs!

It worked for me on T4E from day one! So why not CP? Some excellent songs everywhere on this!

Stick It Out might even be less offensive to my ears.

:o :o :o :o

I remember that when the album came out, some critic mentioned that Double Agent reminded him of 2112. I always wondered what the HELL he was talking about. But I do think it's a cool and different tune. Love Cut to the Chase, Between Sun & Moon, Alien Shore, and Cold Fire, too. Great tunes, and great guitar tunes.

I'm not wild about how Geddy sings "shore" as "show-whore." Alien show whore?
