Worst original studio Rush song.

Haven't read through the thread. Don't have to. Anyone answering anything other than Superconductor is just plain wrong. And worst song in concert, btw? Xanadu/Superconductor. Even the immense superiority of Xanadu cannot save the hopeless mess of Superconductor. Thread locked. Move along.

On the Presto tour, Superconductor was met with huge cheers from the audience at the San Jose show.

Same where I was in Florida. In fact, of the Presto songs, it got the 2nd biggest cheers after Show Don't Tell. Not saying it's justified but the crowd seemed to want it that's for sure

Dog Years is better than Tai Shan. Discuss.

:o :o

How do you figure that??

Or are you just trying to stoke the fire a bit? Heh heh...

Both are very good songs, but Dog Years is probably better.

Interesting.

I am one of the few who loves Tai Shan (and all the rest of Hold Your Fire, for that matter)...but I just can't hang with Dog Years.

I love the music, the sound, the vocals, and, yes, the lyrics. By T4E we were almost a decade into the "we're going to bitch about virtually everything we can" period of Rush, and people would grab a hold of anything to justify that hate. For Dog Years, it seems the use of puns crossed a line for many people.

By far, The Weapon for me.

I am guessing that you are kidding like Blue Barchetta was when he posted Xanadu. Especially the "by far" part...

I am not kidding. At all. I hate that song so much.

Ok...

It's possibly the only Rush song I truly hate. It's difficult for me to find any good in it.

Yeah, it's not a good song.

As much as I hate the entirety of Vapor Trails, I think the worst Rush song of all time is "Dog Years". It might have worked better as a comic relief song had Test for Echo been a better album overall, but it's a horrible song on an album that is average. There are two Rush songs that bring up "what were they thinking?" every time I hear them..."Dog Years" and "I think I'm going Bald". At least Geddy could still hit the high notes on the latter of the two.

I've got your back! I totally agree!

Dog years and wish them well should meet. Maybe over candlelit dinner. I mean I love the lyrics of wish them well, the music being on par.

The groove of dog years is just beautiful, lyrics?

Just imagine the lovely chubby little offspring, these two would make?

Hm, odd choice. What do you think is wrong with it?

The things that he fears are a weapon to be held against us.

A great song. He must not like Red Sector A either. Very similar stylistically. They both kick @ss and if you watch them live as Lorraine would certainly agree, you are riveted to the screen and the songs. Those were the days for sure...

Face Up

Face Up is pretty mediocre for most of it, BUT I just love that slow down part.

"You get all squeezed up inside

like the days were carved in stone

you get all wired up inside

and it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride

and when you get out on your own

you get all smoothed out inside

and it's good to be alone"

I don't know if it does it for anyone else, but for me, the music and lyrics really captures the joy of being stressed, grabbing the keys, and just speeding off down a winding country road for awhile. The rest of the song is meh, but that back end of the song really kicks butt. :)

Agreed.

No love for Roll The Bones? The main song isn't too bad, but the rap section... Easily one of the saddest moments in Rush history (Of course, Neil's tragedies are number 1)

Time Stand Still is a close second. Just an awful cheese-fest with an even worse music video.
