Robbins is in negotiations to play astronomer Ogilvy in the big-screen adaptation of H.G. Wells' classic novel, while Otto would play the wife of the main character, to be played by Tom Cruise. Paramount Pictures put the project on the fast track in August -- with just 10 weeks of preproduction in order to meet a mid-November start date -- and the cast has been coming together quickly. Steven Spielberg directs. DreamWorks and Paramount are co-financing "War of the Worlds," a contemporary adaptation of the 1898 novel, which is one of the best-known alien-invasion stories. madra sneachta
"Just as mankind had succumbed to the martians, so our land had succumbed to the red weed........" Much as I'm looking forward to this, Richard Burton has become THE voice of War of the Worlds for me.

The Notorious B.S.G.
This is interesting. Prepare for "The War of The War of the Worlds". I've been hearing about another production by Pendragon Pictures for a number of years now. It looks like it's going to beat Speilberg's version. http://www.computercrowsnest.com/sfnews2/0...ews0904_9.shtml And here's the official website: http://www.war-of-the-worlds.org/Movies/Theater.shtml Hey, Madra! So, you like the musical version by Jeff Wayne? Isn't that just the coolest? And Richard Burton is awesome as the narrator. I may have to dig out those tapes, they're around here somewhere............
