I remember this in the mid 70's.The original Breakout.Atari Adventure on the 2600.The racing game on Colecovision. (forgot the name)Lunar Lander.Pac Man.Space Invaders.Asteroids.Battlezone.Defender.Crazy Climber.FF to the 90's because I lost interest in the 80's.Commander Keen (PC)Wolfenstein 3D.DooM/Doom2. Fracking DooM. My god.... I love that game. Exploring, level building. Hell, I even spent a year and a half rewriting the code from C to C++ when it went open source. My all time favorite game, based on gameplay and atmosphere... and the fact that I taught myself 2 programming languages when I rewrote it. Doom and 2 were the same exact game. The code comments at the time were funny, alluding to the fact that people (like me) bought the same game twice... with minimal work from the dev team.Quake/2/3.MDK. (never heard of this one???)Unreal.Sim City. SC2000.Star Wars Dark Forces.And I blanked out after 2001 or so.... got busy with work, etc. My daugther was born. I'm looking forward to Doom 4. I know you guys like Call of Duty and a bunch of other games. From my memories of my Quake and Unreal days, I wish I could be there with you.... sniping and killing the lot of you in game.... But I don't have the time anymore. I was a hell of a sniper. Almost never got found..because I didn't camp for too long. That's where my name 'grep' comes from. My Quake days. I wanted a unique name that people would remember, one sylable, and it represented my IT background. Dont get me wrong those are some great games, but video games have come a loooong way since then. Oh I know. I still visit the sites from time to time and watch the trailers, etc. But don't discount my faves based on age. I remember when Pong and Pac man were new... and i bet that if you or anyone were to start playing, you'd lose hours of your time. Games are better these days in terms of realistic graphics and better programmed AI. (In no order) PC- Diablo 2DS- Dragon Quest 9X360- Dark SoulsX360- Borderlands 2ARC- Ms. Pac ManNES- Legacy of the WizardPS2- DisgeaSNES- Super MetroidPS1- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night3DS- Etrian Odysey 2: Untold (already this one's on my list, it's so good) But honestly I could easily make a top 30 list.
