Digital Dad Posted August 19, 2015 Share Posted August 19, 2015 Africa is a damn near perfect pop tune. Rush never really wrote one of those. Tai Shan isnt in and of ifself horrible song. But if IS a lowlight in the Rush catalog and it is most certainly the worst song onthe album. Africa is one the the best songs in Totos catalog. It's actually a good pop song, and I really enjoyed it when I saw Toto co-headline with Yes a few nights ago. I would so much rather see Toto than Yes at this point. Your bias toward the man shrouds your comprehension of his music. No bias. I tried Zappa on more than many occasions and any talent he has is not denied, I just hate all I have heard. Why does everyone always assume their favourite artists deserve the world's attention? I. Like. What. I. Like. Without. Bias. If I did a top ten album list, there is a high chance The Boss doesn't even make it. Zappa is not for everyone and I do not enjoy him, not because I am scared off or worried he will challenge my firm favourites, but because I think his music stinks. Pure and simple. Sorry if that offends you, I mean nothing against anyone's individual taste, but Zappa is not for me and I tried him time and time again. I did the same with Waits and eventually I found two albums that clicked. Zappa just gets on my nerves and that is that. And unlike you I can completely accept and understand why somebody would dislike my favourite artists. I am not biased in any way for any artist, and I even agree on peoples negative views on them For goodness sake my taste gets frowned upon all the time around here, sorry if sometimes I hate something too!
