The Oldies Thread For TRF Old Timers!

The name of the band escapes me, but they had a lot of hits in the late sixties/early seventies. The only one that comes to mind right now is "Come On Down To My Boat."

Also, The Easy Beats: Friday On My Mind.

Then we had The Buckinghams that had lots of hits too.

A lot more simple times. We were a lot happier too. Or so it seemed.

Free association going on here, just a bit of stream of consciousness, in the ol' way-back machine...

Classics IV- Spooky

Zager and Evans- In the Year 2525

Tony Joe White- Polk Salad Annie

Quicksilver Messenger Service- Fresh Air

"Oooo-oo-oo-oooh, have another hit!"

Hahahaha...

That QMS song came out when I was 15 or 16. My friend and I would listen to it over and over.

Yes, much simpler and slower-paced. And more innocent, to be sure. The upheavals of the late '60s began a huge change in the our innocence and idealism...but I probably shouldn't say a whole lot about that, as I wasn't even born yet.

But I remember even in the late 1970s, things were so much easier and simpler and exponentially more innocent than the way things are today.

And don't forget The Yardbirds: Over Under Sideways Down! :)

Yes! :)

And The Zombies- Time of the Season, and She's Not There...I love those.

I like the Righteous Brothers. Good voices on those guys!

I remember when Unchained Melody enjoyed newfound popularity in about 1990 because it was on the soundtrack to the movie Ghost. It started getting a lot of radio airplay on pop stations again, and everything.

I remember that too, although I was proud at the time to tell the bandwagoners, "Oh, I've already known this song for years."
