RUSHHEAD666
I knew once I saw the word "DING" it was about the triangle sample on "Book II!" The LA Forum show was the greatest Rush show I have ever seen. I've only seen them 60 times which in the big scheme of Rush Things is nothing!!! I have no regrets or complaints. RUSH is the greatest band in the fuckking Universe!!!
RUSHHEAD666
Oh yeah shit! I wish Neil had real wind chimes and triangles!! Oh well! Beggars can't be choosers!! At least he brought back the tubular bells! Signed, Mike Oldfield

cygnify
Technically not a triangle - it was a single crotale on Hemispheres. I can't say if that is what the sample is.
MeanMeanPride
The crotale in Prelude is classic. That whole jam is some of Rush's best instrumental writing and playing, if you ask me.
x1yyz
I knew once I saw the word "DING" it was about the triangle sample on "Book II!" Hahah, me too! It was fun seeing a whole arena full of people reach over and "air ding" when Neil hit that note.

cygnify
There was some technical discussion about this crotale on here a few years ago. It's a single crotale mounted between his high hat and first rack tom. F#, I was brought up to believe http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?/topic/79763-drumming-question/

Sgt.D
That was a moment I was looking right at Geddy. Totally remember him doing a little move.

Disk98
Okay, so it's agreed that it's definitely "ding," right? Not "ping," "ting," "cling," or anything like that?
Hemispheres3
Love that part! I wish they did the whole thing to get it once on video.
Rod in Toronto
Whatever it is I'm doing - at work, running, doing dishes, literally ANYTHING...if Hemispheres is playing, I always do the "air ding" when that part comes up!
Bigbobby10
the ding is definitely the most important part of the song when i am doing air drumming to this song
MMCXII
aah, the Hemispheres Ding. This version pierced me ears for some reason! I think the studio ding is a tad lower..
