The seagull represents the LGBT community and the guy on the beach with whatever the hell thing that is represents the mainstream media. The rusted out post represents a hatchet, axe, and saw which is used to prevent portrayals of heterosexual couples on TV.

I thought that was what YYZ was about.

Why can't they both be about that?

My take:

Geddy: The metal Detecting dude.

Progressive steel new music has its origins within the progressive rock in the Nineteen sixties, but didn't come to be a genre until eventually the Nineteen eighties. This form of rock is often a mix in between the powerful guitar seem of weighty metallic, intricate instrument playing and complex constructions. Jazz and classical new music also motivated progressive metal music. The duration of a progressive metallic music is for a longer period than a standard a person. Rushs Geddy Lee was one of several very first to introduce progressive rock to your planet. Through the years, Rushs audio mixed distinct tunes variations and gave delivery to new genres of rock, although Geddy Lee had a serious influence on progressive metal songs.

Alex: the Seagull

Alex was teased endlessly by Geddy & Neil about his Flock of Seaguls hairdo in latter years.

Neil: The road sign

Self explanatory

And the beach always represents retirement

After further thought, I now believe it was written about Rand Paul wanting to keep "women and brown people" from using the Toronto airport. The lack of lyrics refers to the silent shame, and finally, gritty resolve in resistance that all Canadians feel about this.

They're about to retire. There are three empty chairs on a beach. Seagulls are often found near beaches. The chairs represent their well-earned retirement.

The dalmatian is running behind the chairs The dalmatian represents their career. (Their career has been a bit spotty.) The dog is running because the whole thing seems to have gone by so fast.

There's a man with a metal detector on the beach. He has a weird beard. He is "searching for metal" - perhaps a reference to the fact that people have tried to characterize Rush's music as "metal." Or, he is searching for buried treasure. The fans hope there will be buried treasure in a vault, released to the public. They want "Hemispheres live" and "Signals live" for example.

The seagull is waiting to see if there is anything to be scavenged. They are beach scavengers. Maybe they hope the retired Alex, Geddy and Neil will throw them french fries. The dalmatian hopes maybe they will throw it a bone. The fans hope that they will throw them more unreleased music.

A live album from the Signals tour would be phenomenal.

While not official releases, you can get bootlegs from any tour you want.

Are there soundboards from the Signals tour? Is it inappropriate for me to ask if you could point me to one if there are?

That's a seagull? I thought it was a shithawk. Oh, wait . . . same thing.

http://cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/images/videos/r40/r40-cover.jpg

Alex is at the Ritz Carlton bar on the Island in the background.

Are you obsessed with that? Every post I see where that's mentioned always seems to be you.

Disembodied Spirit was at the next table that night. Actually got sprayed with some of Alex's blood. PTSD has caused a sort of obsession, yes.

(I'm lying obviously.)

It's the blood fever. :P

For all that is Holy, I wish I had the blood fever from Alex.

Maybe then I could play more than 1 chord on the guitar...LOL

Eagle not obsessed, but ALL of us have made mistakes and bad judgement while boozing.

SEE My recap...

For those of us that made it through...It's good to make fun of ourselves, so we don't do it again.

Thankfully Alex and I have been bar brawl free for MANY years....

It ain't pretty, is it? but some fans do a lot of squawking. And will grab whatever they can.

p.s. I do not exempt myself from the above description.

I see a little island out there. Does that represent the little hope that we have that there's going to be more tour dates?
