Only a handful of people even noticed the polls, you do realize this? They're 1000's of TRF members. You're  reaching a really small number of people...that's  reality.  But hey, you guys gotta have an outlet right?

What else would you be doing?

Like a drowning man will grab for any means of support.  No need to feel so threatened. Other people are allowed to have their own opinions even if they don't agree with yours.
Eagle, the people who started these polls felt threatened. That's why the polls were started in the first place. I don't feel it at all.

I've taken opinion polls, at concerts, with real people, with a camera recording responses. The Terry Brown era is rightfully loved by many here on TRF, however it represents only a piece of the mosaic.

So you're saying we're not "real people?"  Seriously?

We are a very select subset, of a subset, of a subset (and perhaps a few more) of real people.

Right, which I would think would make us a little more knowledgeable about the subject than the general public.

No, it means that we are likely not representative of the opinions of more casual fans or the general public.

But that's not the point being made here. The polls are only here, on this forum. So they do at least represent the views of the people here. And no, it doesn't make our opinions less valid.

Whether or not your opinions are in the majority of this small subset of a subset has no bearing on the validity of your opinion.  Until your opinion veers into quantifiable areas, that is.

Okay, never mind. You're just making comments now rather than actually having a discussion.

Honestly, I have no clue what your point is or what you're trying to imply about me.  But if I've pissed you off in some way by pointing out obvious truths, I am sorry.

I'm not angry, just wondering why are you trying to stir the pot? If you don't know what my point is why are you even commenting on it? I don't get that.

I understood your previous points, just not your last shot at me, which seemed like a non-sequitur attack.

That you were trying to stir the pot? You consider that a shot? Sounds like you're the one that's a bit peeved, not me.

The answer to both your questions is no, and I am not peeved.  But it is clear that you don't want a discussion, so that's fine.  Peace.

The Royal Scam clocks in at 41 minutes!  Pretty good, huh?  :)

I believe Aja is exactly 40 minutes, as well.

Chock full o' classics, it is!

One after the other.  No wonder it was the top selling album of 1977.

Erm...isn't Rumours the top selling album of 1977?

Segue, it appears you are right.  It was the third best selling album of that year.  Double platinum for them too.

My apologies.  :)

I just mentioned Rumors on the previous page!

And actually, I don't know...I would believe either one.

Aja wasn't released until September of that year, so Rumors may be more plausible. But I don't know.

I would bet that either one sold more on its own than the top-selling twenty albums combined, today.

I weep for the past. :(

I take a rotating group of about 20 friends to different Rush concerts each tour.  These are guys that may only like a few of the radio songs, or may like a few popular albums, or who may not really like Rush specifically but like rock and roll and going to concerts.  Virtually all were very, very receptive to CA.  Yes, that is a very limited polling.  But I think when you consider some other factors, the case for CA is strong.  The album received nearly universal acclaim from reviewers, a group of people that have traditionally hated Rush.  On the CA tour, the crowd was far more energetic during the CA songs than during the first setlist.  That's probably because most were sleeping, drinking, or on their phones as they were subjected to a wall of synths, but there is something to that.

Here's a timely quote from the little punk rocker, Johnny Rotten, that I found in my Aja research:

"Sometimes the most positive thing you can be in a boring society is absolutely negative."

And this little nugget.  Grab your magnifying glass and put that Sherlock cap on:

Quote

When DTS attempted to make a 5.1 version, it was discovered that the multitrack masters for both "Black Cow" and the title track were missing. For this same reason, a multichannel SACD version was cancelled by Universal Music. Donald Fagen has offered a $600 reward for the missing masters or any information that leads to their recovery.

Mr. Fagen, how much of an effort do you expect anyone to make for $600.00?

Yes, this is in the liner notes for Aja, for the reissue(s) they did in 1999. I always thought the $600 figure was kind of  too.
