We must have started the album at the same time...coz I am near the end of this!

I have come away with a new aspect of this album that I love: the slow build up of Cygnus...its glorious!

I have to play Hems now

Cygnus and Xanadu are two songs that I think encompass the true essence of who the band was back in the early days. They have never truly recaptured that again, which is a shame.

I agree with you.

As much as I love the eighties, listening to AFTK, and now hems, I truly miss Lifeson's sound on the later releases.

No quality drop in the eighties for me, but my goodness I wish Alex could have had more imput. CA wishes it could be Hems or AFTK, but a big reason why it doesn't come close is the magical tone and musical imagination of Lifeson...he really shone his brightest on these two.

Can it be coincidence that AFTK is my favourite, with Hems not far behind?

They exceeded it with Roll the Bones and Presto

Hard to believe the album is 47 years old.

It is timeless.

Hmmm...my math says it's 38 years old.

Nineteen sixty-eight, though, was also an incredible year for music. ;)

I don't think it's coincidence at all.  They were at the top of their form then. Once Signals came around, and the guitar was pushed into the background their music became more mainstream.

It's ok. I thought 1990 was fifteen years ago today...

I am not really getting to grips with turning quarter of a century... :codger:
