Misheard RUSH lyrics

Lock and Key:

"I don't want to face the killer instinct, face it in you or me"

What I initially heard (and apparently someone else on Facebook, so I don't feel so bad!):

"I don't want to face the killer instinct, face it in New Orleans".

Tom Sawyer

What you say about his company

Is what you say about his Sawyer team

Fly By Night:

Why try? Don't know why.

Working Man

Lock it up, at 7 yeah, and I go to work at 9..

Digital Man:

He's got a force field and a fixed-up fan

He's got a good fate in a black sedan

I used to think the same thing for Working Man!

Hold your servant proudly and your hired hand= thought

Hold the red star proudly high in hand= Actual

2112;

II. Temples of Syrinx

Boy did I miss that one :smoke:

For the longest time, I heard that same line as,

"Hold your breath so proudly high in hand."

I used to hear hold the red star produly hand in hand

In Natural Science I used to hear "In their own image their world is fascist" (actual lyrics "In their own image their world is fashioned")

and then "Art as expression not as what it contains" (actual lyrics "Art as expression not as market campaigns").

Just recently realized the line in Far Cry is "I can get back ON", not "I can get back HOME" like I'd thought for years.

I thought that myself. It's part Geddy's fault though, for adding a silent "h" sound at least once when singing the word "on". ;)

Oh and of course, "Fly By Night:...

Chickens are coming and I just can't pretend.

I had that lyric wrong until I just looked it up. I had the opposite meaning.

Instead of "My ship isn't coming and I just can't pretend"

I thought it was "My ship is a-coming and I just can't pretend"

Not as funny but still wrong.

In Tom Sawyer, instead of Geddy singing "but change is" I thought it was

"Love changes"

I was sad to give that one up, when I found out the real words.
