Last night's pic...

Any thoughts on that dragon?  I've talked to a couple of people from Vancouver and they have no idea :)

This is how I feel about the Tampa slogan. I myself fell in love with Tampa and surrounding areas so much when I discovered it, I moved here built a career, raised a family & made Tampa my adopted home town. On the flip side I have run across more than a few that cannot gain more than a Meh feeling for the area. So the "Love it or Leave it" struck an immediate chord with me when I saw the slogan. Along with the "Twistie Treat" Icon (which family & I have been to personally many, many times) I had the feeling they were using (obscure) land marks they had either seen or visited in their many many traverses across our continent. As someone in the early daze of this thread pointed out it truely does mean they love us and more exciting than that they pay attention to the simple little (& some facinating) things of the areas they visit.

I've lived in Alberta (near Calgary) all of my life, and this is the first time I've seen or heard of Pinto MacBean.  Bow Island is a couple hours south of Calgary.

Yes, some of the things in the photos are unusual!  The picture for Lincoln, Nebraska, was this kind of sculpture called Carhenge, and as someone noted in the thread, it is pretty much on the opposite side of the state from Lincoln.  It's been fun to see what they have come up with- not always the most obvious thing; it makes you wonder if these are things they have seen from the road and remembered or that Neil has seen from his motorcycle.  I wish I had time to go and visit some of the landmarks this summer! :P

Yep.... Carhenge is actually closer to me here in Denver than it is to Lincoln.

Was that the last time it rained there?

I actually saw the Elephant Car Wash when I drove into town.  It is the first of the "Rush landmarks" that I've seen.

Actually, the KC one had an exclamation point -- kind of like a response to the NC slogan :)

I've seen the Watermelon tower, but that's it. Going on a road trip next month, and will be able to hit SLC, Denver, KC, New Orleans, Houston, Nebraska, etc so might be able to see some of the others...

I'm attending the Portland show tomorrow and am really curious what they'll use. Perhaps they'll re-use  "Keep it weird" since Keep Portland Weird is one of those things it's known for. Not sure what the landmark will be. Perhaps the Big Illuminated Franz Bread (http://www.roadsidea...com/story/22667)?

How long will it be until someone completes the Tour of North American Rush Landmarks?

I'm wondering what motto & landmark they will use for San Jose because there's really nothing special about San Jose.  Of course, since many of the landmarks they choose are far from the venues, maybe they'll choose a San Francisco landmark.
