x1yyz
This is a new interview from Classic Rock magazine that was buried in another thread. I thought I'd post it here so it gets the attention it deserves. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0001_zpsjah9crei.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0002_zpsomadc9y2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0003_zpsyzgwyqff.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0004_zpsnmcievtu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0005_zpse17mgozn.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0006_zps5mvap7ts.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0007_zpscygulshu.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0008_zps6rfjxfcz.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/BaldiePete/ClassicRockRush/Rush0009_zpsk9lj1kqj.jpg

Bard
Good interview. Interesting that they rank CA so high in their lexicon. But it all points to the same apparent inevitability. Alex and Neil are hurting. Still, it's good that at least some possibility of a Euro R40 leg remains in 2016 for the Euro fans. Clearly, as has been rumored, it simply comes down to Alex and Neil's physical endurance. I'm totally on board with a new album and no tour behind it, but there's no money in that. But they don't really do things for the money either. I will happily take a new Rush studio album over another tour.
CountFloyd84
I agree, Bard. There definitely seems to be a faint hint of optimism about a European R40 leg, although I'm not going to get my hopes up---that always leads to disappointment. ;) They definitely seem up for another album. Geddy is obviously totally up for it and loves playing, Alex seems quite interested, and they seem to think Neil would be interested, too. I would love to get a new Rush album, as I really enjoyed Clockwork Angels. I think the boys have a lot of creative juices left, so to speak.

Captain Avatar
Mixed emotions reading this, for sure. I'm glad they are giving us another tour, but it's sad to realize afresh that even the best of us inevitably succumb to the ravages of old age. Thanks for posting this.

cygnify
Clearly, as has been rumored, it simply comes down to Alex and Neil's physical endurance. but it was also mentioned that Neil has a very young daughter. Both Alex and Geddy state not spending time with their young children as their biggest regret/cost of touring with the band. Neil himself has recently referred to the impossibility of reconciling touring with being there for his daughter. Can't ignore this element. gudbuytjane
Thanks for posting this in an easy-to find place! And yeah, what a great interview, and yet another reminder of why I love these guys. That didn't read like an interview with ROCK STARS!!! at all, just two pretty down to earth guys talking realistically about where they are in their lives.

goose
Nice interview, but the interviewer seems to be too obsessed with drugs...I think the interview understood that the RUSH story gave him an opportunity - a journalistic responsibility, perhaps - to point out that any substance, whether it be marijuana, ecstasy, or potato chips, can be used responsibly or irresponsibly. It was a very small part of each interview, and gave good insight into the relationship between the three members, I thought. ETA: Tai Shan bashing got about the same amount of ink. goose
Alex and Neil are hurting. Clearly, as has been rumored, it simply comes down to Alex and Neil's physical endurance. You can see/hear it in their playing this tour...especially with Alex. Props to him for giving us one more tour and for offering such an amazing setlist.
