Segue Myles
Sometimes I wonder if I'm a "bad" music listener for sometimes being disproportionately interested in the artist as a person; I certainly like music for music's sake but I get more enjoyment out of it when I know of the person who created it and what they were thinking. Tom Petty had an interesting life. I don't really know how you can be a music listener and not be interested in the artist I couldn't care less about the performer as a person as long as I find what they do entertaining. Obviously there are exceptions like if the person is a convicted murderer, child molester or rapist. But for the most part their private lives are none of my business. It's the art not the artist I'm a fan of. I was thinking more what the albums or songs might mean, like for example, discovering recently that I Like It was about a sinister stalker Lacuna Coil had to contend with for a while has given new meaning to the song for me. Rod in Toronto
I don't like to cry wolf...but there's a chance of getting an interview with James Labrie some time soon.

I didn't know that about the song. Of course that doesn't make the tune suck any less. I don't mind knowing what songs are about but there are plenty that I love where I have no idea of what the subject matter is.

Union 5-3992
How much Tom Petty do you guys listen to? Recently got into his music. I'm pretty sad this always seems to happen after the artist passes away. LOVE him. you really can't go wrong with anything he's done. But Damn the Torpedoes and Hard Promises are two great ones MickLong After Dark and Full Moon Fever also have some gems

Day of Light
I don't really have any new albums I really like. I can appreciate hip hop as a genre but it's not something I super listen to in my own time, and most of the new stuff coming out is indeed hip hop. I'll have to think about it!

What the heck are you talking about? There is plenty of great new rock and metal out there. Not that the music mainstream would ever let us know about it though. Segue Myles
It's been a while but its great fun being back in love with Nightwish. Alongside Lacuna Coil...I don't have a favourite between them anymore, or Paradise Lost. These three bands are my everything!
Day of Light
I'd be interested in hip hop you like. I love Kendrick Lamar, I also love rnb. I'd like to know! way too late; forgot to respond when i first saw the post, sorry, haha An act I was really starting to like a while back was Atmosphere. Then I was listening to Eminem's Relapse a lot. After that I got into Kanye (of course). Not much of a hip hop person overall but I try not to be completely clueless about the genre. I'm interested in your thoughts on VII since fans drool over it......me not so much. it's a chore. it's almost pure jazz. that almost didn't mix in the rock. which is what makes the band special, IMO.
