DISCUSS! Bands you like more than Rush...

The only band that could potentially beat out Rush for me is Tool (and I'm sure they will surpass Rush once their new album comes out). Other than that there's not really any competition, but The Mars Volta and Magma come pretty close

Tool?

I forgot about them...I used to enjoy 10,000 Days a lot.

Yeah that album is awesome. I don't know if you've ever heard Lateralus, but that's their magnum opus in my view

None. But VERY close seconds for me are Maiden, Zeppelin, Dream Theater and The Police.

Dream Theater.... lol

Nobody.

King's X might of come close back in the early 2000's when they were putting out albums...then they started in the direction of too many side projects imo...although they all put out some strong solo material.

There are 0 bands I like more than Rush. I would say that my quite close second would be Fair To Midland but I don't think anything could surpass Rush. They are just too good and their music is so original and different throughout their career but still recognisable as :rush: .

Nope. Rush has been and remains at the top.

Close runners-up:

Iron Maiden

Foo Fighters

Other favorites:

Joe Bonamassa

Def Leppard

Led Zeppelin

Styx

Pink Floyd

Buddy Guy

Current addiction: Gary Clark Jr.

My own runners up tho I have said this before

Genesis

Peter Hammill/VDGG

Yes

Maiden

Marillion (both eras but espcially Fish era)

Billy Joel

And then tons of prog and jazz. I love some Mainstream bands like Pearl Jam and the occasinal AOR/classic rock stuff but more on the Allmans/Dead kinda stuff. Seen a ton of Phish shows but I never rarely if ever listen to them. From about '96 to 2000 I was a total

Jam band head. If I had to listen to any it would probably be Widespread Panic.

I love jazz but had my jazz period from about 96 to about 2004. Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, Mingus, Miles and Trane anything on Blue Note or Impulse from '57-'65.

No, I know you are harboring a resentment against poor Sarah for having the good sense audacity to turn you down for a date.

I never checked them out properly because when I was 16 I couldn't find their albums.

Cool I will check it out!

I'm not super familiar with Tom Waits, but In the Colosseum and New Coat of Paint (the only songs I'm very familiar with) are really f***ing good

I can't do the voice. He sounds like his larynx got run over by a semi.

Joe Bonamassa does a really cool interpretation of Jockey Full Of Bourbon, though.

My recommendations for albums

Mule Variations

Then thre's the 70's jazz beatnick album. Small Change.

Thanks! Luckily, I have the Swordfishtrombones CD somewhere, so I guess I'll start there
