You Choose....

You're choice. Which albums would you prefer to listen to forever?

  1. 1. Well? Studio albums only...

    • Rush - Signals
    • The Rest. Everything after Signals. Grace - Clockwork

Which part of the catalog would you prefer to have and listen to the rest of your life. The first choice there are fewer albums and songs. The second choice covers many more years, more albums, more songs and "growth"... Which and why if you would like to explain your rational... :codger: Edited by Narpsberg

Ouch. I like more post-Signals in general, but I can't go without Xanadu, 2112, and Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures…that would really suck. Even if Hemispheres (title track) and Caress of Steel (blech!) are included… Edited by Disk98

Oh god.............hmmmmmmmmm. on the one hand i get Hemispheres, Waves, MP, COS Signals, Xanadu.

on the other i miss out on great 80's records.

but.......it .eliminates 90's-CA plus p/g

That tips it Rush to signals.......so i can eliminate that AWFUL 90'S-CA

sorry good 80's records but you are lumped in with some DOGS, lol

Me too. I really enjoy quite a bit of the 80's music up to a point but what followed makes the choice an easy one. For me its akin to choosing Rush - Signals or The rest of the 80's for the most part. I lived for 30 years without the rest of the catalog and I survived just fine. Easy choice...

Again it doesn't mean i don't love those 80's records.

Just to clarify...the "Signals" choice isn't all the albums after and including Signals, it's Signals by itself, right? We're choosing between Signals alone, or every other Rush album except for Signals?

I thought it was pretty clear but I guess maybe not. You either get every album Rush - Signals or everything that came after. Grace Under Pressure - Clockwork Angels...

I would go with Rush----->Signals.

I'm into "modern" Rush as much as anyone. Some material on post Signals albums I'd put up against anything...

What it comes down to is Pew, Signals, MP, and Hemispheres are my top 4, so there's no going against that.

Both have amazing work and some absolute garbage, from my personal opinion.

First one has:

bits of FBN

Fountain of Lamneth

2112

half of AFTK

Hemispheres

PeW

MP

Signals

Second has:

Grace Under Pressure

PoW

some of HYF

Counterparts

half of T4E

most of Vapor Trails

Snakes

CA

As much as there are many songs that "defined" the band in the first, the second simply has more to enjoy for me, personally. Voting for either one would pain me greatly cause I'd be snubbing the other.

Considering I have not listened to

New World Man or Countdown from that album since...well 1983.

I am already only listening to 6 of the 8 tunes.

Plus Subdivisions, Digital Man and Analog Kid are on Live albums.

So technically I am only Losing It, Chemistry and The Weapon.

I'll take the rest of the catalog

I don't follow?... You are losing every album from :rush: - Signals. You can never listen to them again but you get everything recorded after Signals...

AFTER Signals comes LIVE albums

OR are we eliminating ALL Live albums POST SIGNALS?

Studio albums only. The best live album was made in the 70's anyway... ;) Edited by Narpsberg

I think I would only listen to Iron Maiden with these rules... :LOLsign:

I don't know. My first choice was Everything else. Then I realised that Hemi, 2112, Moving Pictures, Fly By Night are on the other side. So I changed my vote. Then I realised S&A, P/G, CA, PW, Feedback all that was on the other side. Now I've deleted my vote and can't decide...

This is a maddening poll!

Those who vote for the early stuff are essentially being forced to say that life ends at about age 30.

Those who vote for the post-Signals catalog are being coerced into essentially eschewing all of the blistering, youthful energy they had, and all of the important early development the band went through.

I choose not to decide. ;)

I think I have made the appropriate corrections to the poll. I have only corrected it about 4 times now. God bless Lorraine. No wonder I don't attempt this often... :)
