Setlist - only the definites

So I'm thinking:

Tom Sawyer

Spirit of Radio

Limelight

Red Barchetta

Freewill

YYZ

2112 (full or part)

Subdivisions

While there's plenty of others I think are likely, I'm not sure there are any others I'd put any money on as being in the setlist for sure.

Thoughts?

think the list is pretty good except red barchetta and freewill. with geddys voice being an issue over the last couple years i don't seem him wanting to bust out that one every night. it is a short tour so maybe he might consider it.

barchetta has just been done too much i feel, i think as little moving pictures is good since it was done endlessly only two tours ago. sawyer, limelight, yyz is enough from that album. in fact it might be time to give yyz a rest but i doubt they will do it. they have always said that tom sawyer will be played at every rush show. the only two songs that have been played at every single show nice VT tour is tom sawyer and yyz.

good point about subdivisions, been played every tour since r30, they might decide to give it a rest. its really hard to predict this stuff but i think the only 100% guarantees are tom sawyer, yyz, 2112, and spirit.

I don't think Subdivision will return this time. I'm thinking its New World Man's turn. That and Distant Early Warnings.

I actually think subdivisions is just like Tom Sawyer and YYZ, it's been played almost every tour and I know it will come back

But its not. It has been left out of tours while Tom Sawyer has never been left out.

No freewill anymore.....unfortunately

More like thank God. Seven Cities of Gold will do

Sorry TM but SCOG isn't good enough to replace Freewill, not by a long shot.

:finbar:

That's cool. I would rather hear SCOG. Freewill is a great song.

And I always respect the opinion of the guru.

don't get me wrong, I love SCOG. I actually would prefer just the break of Freewill in an instumedley. That would suffice.

I'm cool with Geddy singing songs that will not wreck his voice. I don't wanna hear him struggle...it hurts too much. On CA songs on the last tour, I felt he did quite well.

I think he did well on just about every song. Well except..."The Garden!" Regardless, May 8th can't come soon enough.

Freewill as part of a medley is a great idea. The drums are all alone before the bass kicks in.

I forget which tour, but I remember them cutting it after the solo and going into DEW. Early in the show, maybe 3 and 4th songs.

Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio are the only DEFINITES... The rest are all up in the air.... As I look at the selists from that last few tours there is so much diversity that you can't find a pattern.

I still have an inkling that you'll see what I described in another thread...whatever tune that was a hold over on the next tour from it's "album" tour. (and minus any of the major mid-late 80's tunes since that was overkill on the last tour) (well and Alex made it sound like they weren't playing them again)

YYZ is also 99.9% definite.

Spirit of Radio was skipped at a bunch of early shows on the CA tour (til they dropped Working Man). I'm certain it's getting played on R40, but even that can't be 100% at this point.

Correct- Only played the 1st 5 shows...then killed off

Gone forever?? Wonder what changed?

They were shuffling 2112 & Spirit of Radio around during that time and likely decided to do both of those in lieu of Working Man. It certainly could return this time.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt:

The Spirit of Radio

Tom Saywer

Subdivsions

Overture/Temples of Syrinx

Headlong Flight

YYZ

Freewill

Limelight

Closer To The Heart

No doubt in my mind those mega monster songs are being played on R40

Ok...I was doing some quick puttering, and except for an occasional tour, they pretty much only kept three tunes from the prior album.

This may or may NOT be complete, (I did it pretty quickly) but as I said, it was a quick run down of the tours past AFTK, because this was probably one of the first setlists where they really needed to keep stuff moving in and out since they were starting to headline, and they had a lot more material to choose from:

AFTK:

Bastille Day

Lakeside Park

By-Tor and the Snow Dog (abbreviated)->

Xanadu

A Farewell to Kings

Something For Nothing

Cygnus X-1

Anthem (dropped from 12/10/77, 2/17 & 2/23/78 shows)

Closer To The Heart

2112 (minus Oracle)

Working Man

Fly by Night

In The Mood

Drum Solo

Encore: Cinderella Man

Hemishperes Tour, kept from the AFTK tour:

Xanadu

A Farewell to Kings

Cygnus X-1 (prequel to Hemispheres)

Closer to the Heart

Permanent Waves Tour, kept from Hemispheres tour:

Hemispheres (abbreviated)

The Trees

LaVilla

Moving Pictures Tour, kept from PW tour:

Freewill

Spirit of Radio

Natural Science

Spirit of Radio

(Jacob’s Ladder only during the warm up tour)

Signals tour, kept from MP tour:

Tom Sawyer

Vital Signs

Camera Eye (dropped after a while)

Red Barchetta

Limelight

YYZ

Grace Under Pressure Tour, Kept from Signals tour

Subdivisions

The Weapon

New World Man

Power Windows Tour, kept from GuP tour:

Distant early Warning

Red Sector A

Red Lenses

Hold Your Fire Tour, kept from PW tour:

Big Money

Marathon

Manhattan Project

Territories

Presto tour, kept from HyF tour:

Force Ten

Time Stand Still

Mission

Roll the Bones tour, kept from Presto Tour:

Show Don’t Tell

The Pass (not kept very long)

Super conductor

Counterparts tour, kept from RtB tour:

Dreamline

Roll the Bones

Bravado

Test For Echo tour, kept from Counterparts tour:

Animate

Nobody’s Hero

Vapor Trails tour, kept from T4E tour:

Driven

Resist (unplugged)

R30 tour, Kept from VT tour:

Earthshine

One Little Victory

Secret Touch

Snakes and Arrows, no “prior” tour album so nothing kept

Time Machine tour, kept from S&A tour:

Workin’ Them Angels

Faithless

Far Cry

So in essence, I think that there's a good shot that this is what you're going to see on this tour...tunes that made it to the next tour and beyond... (just an opinion)
