Thanks to A Rocket That Ignites Itself (wouldn't calling yourself Sam have been easier?) for his brilliant idea of having a "best of the worst" poll to discover what is the best worst Rush song.  Tai Shan has been deleted from the list since it is now ""officially" the worst song Rush ever did.

This thread will also serve to help Narps forget about his operation and the recovery pain and discomfort.  We will have guest appearances by some of the more - erm - opinionated TRF Members as they rip one another to shreds discuss their different Rush music taste.

Well, there are two top 15 songs on the list so it was a pretty tough choice.

Surprisingly enough , neither of those was written after 1984....

Circumstances will obviously take this, but it's second for me after Emotion Detector.

Rivendell is a strong third.

:(   One of our entertainers is a bit under the weather, and the other is busy writing his Solar Federalist acceptance speech.

For me I don't see how it could be anything other than Vital Signs or Countdown, with maybe Circumstances and Different Strings coming in as close seconds based on personal preference. I voted Vital Signs.

Haha Lorraine...you can always go with Rocket...or artii for short.  I'm honored and humbled to be of any recovery thread for Narps...all positive thoughts and vibes to Narps.

I gotta go Circumstances first.

Interesting that a lot of these songs don't have guitar solos in them (with a few obvious exceptions).

Is Circumstances the first Rush tune that has a middle-eight keyboard solo rather than a guitar solo?
  • Rivendell - no guitar solo

  • I Think I'm Going Bald - lots of lead guitar

  • Tears - no guitar solo

  • Madrigal - no guitar solo

  • Circumstances - no guitar solo

  • Different Strings - a fade-out guitar solo (which drives guitar-lovers crazy) - also a bit of backwards(?) lead in the middle

  • Vital Signs - no guitar solo (except in the live version)

  • Countdown - no guitar solo

  • Red Lenses - no guitar solo

  • Emotion Detector - bitchin' guitar solo

  • Superconductor - no guitar solo

  • Face Up - rather manic guitar solo

  • Speed of Love - can't remember - I don't think so - or at least not much of one?

  • Dog Years - no guitar solo (has Lee going "ooooh-ooooh" where there should be a solo)

  • Out Of The Cradle - more of a repeated riff than a solo

  • Bravest Face/Good News First - can't remember (edit - yes they do have solos)

  • BU2B2 - no guitar at all . . .

Okay, this "no guitar solo" theory didn't exactly pan out, but it is true that many of these don't have cool solos.

Artii!   Wish I had thought of that one.  I like it better than Sam.
