Morel Master of Goatnut, TN

I did this on my phone, and I have no idea why the choppiness is there, but who cares? My son Jake and I are documenting our Morel harvest this year. If you've never eaten one do what you can to find them. If you buy them, they're more than $50 a pound. This is how it's done:

Cute kid!

Apples don't fall far from their tree!

He's a mountain goat. Dude loves being outside, digging in the dirt, and sniffin' out edibles in the woods. The forest will feed you if you know where to look.

I knew you said they were coming soon!

Man, I wish I were going back to the Smoky Mountains this year.

All dark caps at this time. Extremely well hidden. Perhaps the most flavorful of all the morels. Goatnut isn't blooming yet, but the buds are about to pop. I expect about 15 pounds this year.

Once I get this figured out it'll look even better. For some reason it looks best by following the link. Anyway, more finds from the Morel hunts

This view is taken from on top of Tombstone Mountain. My home is at the bottom. Great view.

Well, I do have a voice. Actually I just dictate YBG news to my oldest and he types it in the processor. That should explain all the grammatical errors

Ver cool!

I love searching for hard to find things.

When you do find them, it's a rush of joy--pun intended. Seriously, it's like looking at one of those eye color exam charts. You can't just walk fast and think you're gonna strike gold

Puffball? Not bad if you can find them before the spores mature, although they are a bit bland -best sauteed after dipping in egg and bread crumbs.

It looks like a giant puffball that's seen better days. They are edible, but not worth the trouble.

Yeah we've got loads of them in the summer. I didn't know what they looked like after maturation. I've learned something new today!

Thanks Holmes!

So you harvest them and sell them at $50/ Lbs?
