RushianRoulette
I'm wondering what do you guys consider to be the greatest lyric (or verse!) Neil has ever written? For me it's a toss up between 1) "We are only immortal for a limited time" or else 2) "From first to last, the peak is never passed. Something always fires the light that gets in your eyes". 3) The bridge part from Presto - "Don't ask me, i'm just improvising...." What do you think? sun dog
"We are only immortal for a limited time" that is a great lyric... I've always liked "I believe that what I'm feeling changes how the world appears" and Sun dogs fire on the horizonMeteor rain stars across the nightThis moment may be briefBut it can be so brightReflected in another source of lightWhen the moment diesThe spark still fliesReflected in another pair of eyes Edited April 3, 2015 by 1-0-0-1-0-0-1 added in second lyric - sun dog's edit window had closed

Blue J
All four winds togetherCan't bring the world to meShadows hide the play of lightSo much I want to seeChase the wind around the worldI want to look at lifeIn the available light Also, the whole of the song Mission may be the best Neil has ever written. In my opinion, of course.
New World Kid
On any given day, there are dozens of Neil's lyrics that will hit me in the right way, both emotionally and intellectually. But these were the ones that came to mind right away: To you is it movement, or is it action? Is it contact, or just reaction? And you, revolution? Or just resistance? Is it living or, just existence? [Yeah you!]It takes a little more persistenceto get up and go the distance. If the future's looking dark, we're the ones who have to shineIf there's no one in control, we're the ones who draw the lineThough we live in trying times, we're the ones who have to tryThough we know that time has wings, we're the ones who have to fly Some are born to move the worldto live their fantasiesBut most of us just dream aboutthe things we'd like to be. Sadder still to watch it diethan never to have known it. For you the blind who once could seethe bell tolls for thee.
Tony R
"Stay!""Go!""Work!""No!""Think!""Live!""Earn!""Give!""Fight" "Right""Laugh" "Wait" Listen! It's a masterpiece of suburban angst and post-Tolkienian reactionism. Or sumfin...

LedRush
I've always loved the lyrics and the sentiments in Time Stand Still, and the following image was always so vivid to me:I let my past go too fastNo time to pauseIf I could slow it all downLike some captain, whose ship runs agroundI can wait until the tide comes around And Afterimage has always been very powerful for me: Suddenly, you were goneFrom all the lives you left your mark upon I rememberHow we talked and drank into the misty dawnI hear the voices We ran by the water on the wet summer lawnI see the footprintsI remember I feel the way you wouldI feel the way you would Tried to believe but you know it's no goodThis is something that just can't be understood I rememberThe shouts of joy skiing fast through the woodsI hear the echoes I learned your love for life,I feel the way that you wouldI feel your presenceI remember I feel the way you wouldThis just can't be understood...

Midway Hawkers
These came to mind after the news of how the plane went down last week: No hero in your tragedyNo daring in your escape No salutes for your surrenderNothing noble in your fateChrist, what have you done?
Union 5-3992
This has always strongly resonated with me. Maybe it's the libertarian in me but it makes me feel really inspired. Especially the way Geddy sings it. What you own is your own kingdomWhat you do is your own gloryWhat you love is your own powerWhat you live is your own storyIn your head is the answerLet it guide you alongLet your heart be the anchorAnd the beat of your own song Edited April 1, 2015 by Union 5-3992
