I love the subtle volume swells Alex does in RIVENDELL, as this technique would become a great part of his arsenal later on ( Xanadu, Hemispheres, etc )

Rush could bring the wood with the best of 'em, but one thing that I love about them was the subtlety - and that is RIVENDELL

I voted MAKING MEMORIES .... but looking at that list of songs that make up FLY BY NIGHT - that is one great album

Why does Feedback have to be brought up in every thread? Flip sake Zumbi.

Went for By-Tor. Not a fan.

And we had so much hope
For you, Segue. You are definitely not prog enough.

Erm...I love prog...By-Tor just doesn't appeal to me.

Tales From Topographic Oceans on the other hand...

Although replaying this album, I have doubts over Rivendell and In The End. In The End sounds better live.
I got news for ya. So does By-Tor. Not a fan of Tales as you already know... :)

Went for In the End (studio version only). Rivendell has a pretty nature, not a favourite but it is quirky enough to appeal. In The End is lovely...but once All The Worlds A Stage gets a spin, all the studio versions sound castrated.

Agreed...but we are talking about the album, not ATWAS here...but I would take studio By-Tor over studio In The End.

i agree with you about it being one great album.  It doesn't get the recognition and love it deserves.  In my opinion.

Yep but truth be told and the more you really look at the songs on this album, its not any easier to oust one of these than it will be later with one of their "great albums". This album is pretty damn good start to finish... :d13:

Yeah, I'm already looking ahead to S&A.  I may have to leave that Round up for days.   So many songs to choose from, so little time.  ;)

I agree!

As much as I don't love this album, Rivendell seems to easy to dismiss, much like Tai Shan. Take is as a one off experiment, it has some charm!

Might give FBN another spin. And I don't think any part of this album is particularly prog either.

Maybe since there are 13 songs :eh: you can make that one "pick the 3 worst or as many worst as you want". If that is even possible to do with a poll...

I still don't see why we can't have the poll for the debut still. We can just keep the results of it independent from this as an isolated poll.

I will have to actually sit through SA again. To pick one song.

Not worth it. I think I will write all the titles on bits of paper, blindfold myself, and pick one outta a hat.

Does this matter? Nearly every time Lorraine starts a thread it seems there is always some sort of controversy. Just go with it and have fun!

Zumbi's thread just seemed a little catty in its formation. We have plenty of time to return to the debut.

Tis true though...I can never become familair with SA coz I can never tell when one song ends and another begins. Doesn't endeer me to repeat it at all.

CoS will be a tough one for me. I love the whole damn album from start to end, no exceptions!

But he just seemed like he wanted it included so he made his own thread. Adding "round one" in the title was a bad idea, but I saw nothing wrong with it.  You guys crucified him like always.
